Dream match - PBF vs Margarito

You believe everything he says.... Yeah, it's a total coincidence he retired when the WW division was being seen as the best in boxing, with guys like Williams, Cotto, and Margarito at the top.

 

Man, when PBF was in negotiations with Oscar for their fight, and even after their fight, not many ppl even considered Margarito or Williams a threat, ppl were just learning about Williams & Margo. Yeah Cotto was around but he said even said before the Baldomir fight that if he cant get DLH next, he'll fight whoever DLH wants him to fight to get him, or else he'll retire.

 

This makes no sense... atsch "Just learning"? What does that mean? they aren't threats till people LEARN about them?

 

I have to jump in here and point out that Cotto has excellent stamina.. He went 12 non-stop rounds with SSM..You guys are making it sound like he RAN out of gas?? The reason he slowed was during the 6 rounds Cotto was landing all the shots to Margos head, Margo was destroying Cottos body... This is what slowed Cotto down, not a stamina issue...

Can Margo do this to PBF??? I don't know.. it won't be as easy, since Cotto is a Fighter and was willing to trade with Margo... PBF would not do that.. But if he lays on the ropes like he did against ODL.. Then Margo would land those devastating body shots, and PBF would probably look winded just like Cotto in the second half of the bout.

 

Excellent points. Too bad they will be ignored. It's just easier to say Cotto gassed....and Margarito sucks.

 

Its not only about goin the 12 rounds, its how you go the 12 rounds. Margo & Cotto both slowed down, which Mayweather doesnt do. But Cotto slowed down because of body punishment & the nose. But no, PBF wouldnt look winded cause he wouldnt accumulate the amount of body punsihment or the broken nose like Cotto did

 

if it was a few years ago i would say margarito. now since margo is slightly older 32 33 i believe. and has already been recognized as one of the best i would say mayweather in a tough fight but he would stil be the clear winner by a few rounds. Back when Mayweather was offered 8 mil to fight margo i would have picked margo and thats cuz im a huge mayweather fan

 

Floyd does not have better stamina lol. :rofl When has Floyd been tired in a fight in his life? He fought Oscar and Hatton and looked like he could go another 20 rounds

 

Cotto ran out of gas against SMM. Did you see the fight? Mosley won the final 2-3 rounds i believe. Cotto said he was taking it easy because he had the fight in the bag. No it was obvious he was gassed.

 

Cotto won 5 out of the first 7 rounds agianst Margarito, many by outboxing him. Sticking and moving. He would stick Margo with a combo then get the **** out of there. He got in trouble because he did not have an adequate defense on the ropes. Once he couldnt run out of the way, he would try and lay against the ropes and trade shots. Thats where he lost. Margarito is a middleweight fighting a small welter here, there is nothing that Cotto could throw that would have hurt him.

The difference with Floyd is, he doesnt get tired, and he can stick and move all night. And if he does get caught against the ropes he has the perfect defense that he has mastered over the years that basically makes him unhittable. Margo would be rendered just as ineffective as Oscar was when he fought Floyd.


Stop having your period all over this forum and look at the fight objectively.

He doesn't wanna risk his record. Floyd couldn't defend the WW division like Ali did the HWs in the 70's. Go hang yourself.

 

Cause 147 isn a division that he should be in. And he couldve beat todays 147 elite fighters. Think about it

 

What division should he be in?

Why have four fights over three years at WW? Why did Hatton have to move up in weight? Why couldn't Floyd drop down?
