We are talking about the super-tough, relentless, upstate New York legend who destroyed Johnny Saxton against the former world's premier fighter PFP who defeated Thomas Hearns in electrifying fashion in 1981. Who wins and why?

Leonard ,too many tools but he would earn his victory the hard way.

Two welterweight champions whom I admire very much...two of my favorites.
It was interesting to read Basilio's comment re Leonard (by a post from RB)
"I'd kick his ribs in!"...That is the mentality of one tough fighter...and this fighter has no quit in him...I honestly believe Basilio looks like he would fight to the finish if he had to!...
Given that...Leonard is in for a hellish evening. Basilio would come right at Leonard giving him pressure from the opening bell, Carmen had a sneaky uppercut he was very good with, in fact, Dundee taught Leonard that punch while grooming him to be a future champion. Like him or hate him,Sugar Ray was an awesome talent, and a dedicated fighter who wanted to be recognized as the best...and he had excellent ability to finish a fight...
I like Ray to survive Carmen's pressure, and score with telling return fire...both men would be hurt at times...But Leonard defintely has more tools and more ways to win a fight. Leonard discovers Basilio is uncommonly strong for someone at 147 lbs, and decides to box, mixing in power shots to take a solid UD in a bruising contest.

If Basilio could beat Suger Ray, I like Basilo's chances here.

This may have to be determined in a 3 fight series, Carmine was a tough as nails, SRL was fast and had power and movement, i could see them in some close, tight fights

Basilio was a hard, hard man, with absolutely mythical stamina.

He said he felt he could go another 15 at the end of the Robinson fight and I believe him.

Do you have the whole fight to score it on?

Leonard by shut-out/stoppage, either way, not losing a round.

Robinson was nearly 37 when Basilio beat him ,6 months later Robinson got his revenge ,do you think Basilio would beat a prime Robinson? because thats what we are talking about prime for prime.

Yes it was close, Carman took the early and middle rounds, and Galvian took the later rounds.

I belive Carman had the style, to beat a PRIME Robinson(Welterweight).

Its still ify Basilio wins, but it will still be a close fight, that could go either way. Lets not forget there are people that felt Carman won the rematch in other stuggle.
