I am estimating the date that each man was in his absolute prime. For Dempsey it was either this date when he defeated Luis Firpo, or maybe July 4, 1919, when he decimated Willard. For the Blockbuster it was probably this day when he defeaed Walcott for the title in a great fight. Although the Charles fights were great performances also. Dempsey would have been 28 and Marciano 29 years of age for this matchup.

    punching power - even
    speed - Dempsey
    chin - even
    stamina - Marciano
    strength - even
    killer instinct - even
    prone to cuts - Marciano

This would be like two irresistible forces colliding. Two mack trucks trying to run eachother over. Each man was not adverse to using to dirty tactics and doing it cleverly to boot. My prediction is that the fast starting Dempsey would have the Rock down on the canvas a couple of times early. Then the fight would be even in the middle rounds. Marciano's face would start to cut and swell badly. He would fight back but jack would have the edge because his hands were as fast as Walcott but he hadway more power. And Walcott could certainly punch! I see Marciano's corner calling a halt after 10 brutal rounds. Rocky would protest bitterly but it would be theright thing to do.

    Dempsey TKO 10 Marciano

Yes, I know young Dempsey suffered a first round kayo to Jim Flynn in 1917. There are variables there. Dempsey was living on a park bench and had not eaten anything in days. Despite that one blip his chin was rock solid and the equal of Marciano's IMO.

Dempsey was at his peak in 1919. Id take that version to win by tko 10 though Marciano certainly has a good shot

    Two points.

    1) Marciano wasn't a slow starter himself.
    2) His handspeed wasn't half bad either.

    Marciano TKO 11 Dempsey

IMO Rocky hit harder, was more proven against better competition, had the better stamina, and his chin was also better.

    A tomato can vs Rocky?

Rocky knocks his head off in the 4th. Dempsey would try to slug it out with Marciano which is quite unwise. About the only way the KO wouldn't happen quite so early is if Rocky had one of his rare sluggish nights.

Dempsey would ruin Marciano, I don't even want to think of what Rocky would look like after this fight. Dempsey by TKO mid-late rounds.

If they slug it out i pick Dempsey to win by early KO (Peak 1919 Dempsey). Marciano's style would suit Jack. Dempsey's faster and has the power to make it count inside (many of Marciano's top opponents didn't - Walcott and Charles not like Dempsey for power or in style, old Louis was slow compared to peak Dempsey who was very quick with his hands). His left hook was something special. Read his book, Championship Fighting - falling step and stuff is top scientific principles at work. Vastly underrated on this board.
