Yes sir these are all valid points. Mathews, LaStarza, Savold, Charles, Walcott and Moore were all superb boxers. The chin comparison is valid because Rocky sure had granite in that chin. I would still say its even though. As far as stamina goes, Dempsey did get tired against Tunney both times. I believe that was due more to inactivity than anything else. Jack had great stamina at his peak. So I still say it's even there. I don't think he hit harder than Dempsey. Anyway, they were both killer punchers so what's the difference? That's like saying what is better - Adidas or Nike? It just a matter of personal preference or opinion. I believe the thing that separates them is Dempsey's blistering handspeed. In all other areas they are equal. So I still pick Dempsey to win.

I disagree on both of these. Marciano had a better chin than Dempsey, i think it's probably safe to say he had the all time best chin for a HW ever. Dempsey is close however.

I don't understand how you say "killer instinct" is even remotely close. Marciano looked looks like a cuddly teddy bear next to Manassa Jack. For what it's worth Dempsey gets this by a long shot.

Other than those looks good to me. I say Dempsey by KO 6

I dunno about that bro. Marciano's killer instinct looked pretty comparable to Dempsey's IMO. Lee Savold's face was literally exploded by Rocky's punches. Carmine Vingo was on life support after their almost tragic bout. Thank goodness he pulled through. Joe Louis was sent through the ropes onto the ring apron, Ezzard Charles' face looked like a big balloon it was so swollen after the first fight. Walcott's face was concave from that beauty of a righthand shot, Moore was knocked repeatedly to the canvas with a series of devastating punches. We know what Dempsey did to Willard already. As I said before, thei killers instincts were equally lethal.

Marciano KO late rounds...It would be a tough one to call, but I think Marciano. Dempsey would def knock him down though....

True, he has unfortunately many haters here, but I´m not one of these, I like the " Manassa Mauler" and have him in my Top 10 HW- list of all times...

I'd pick Marciano. Dempsey was more aggressive and had the edge in speed, but Marciano hit harder and was more durable. This would certainly be a war but Marciano was an overall more solid fighter than Dempsey and in my opinion would win by late stoppage.

I'm a big fan of both but I'm going with Marciano. Dempsey was slightly faster and explosive, but Marciano met better competition, had a better chin, better stamina. Most importantly was his underrated defense, which seemed to improve over time. Watch his waist movement against Moore, rolling with punches, all while hammering away. I think he his power was more concussive too, Willard got off the canvas what 6, 7, 8 times without 8 counts. He wouldn't have got up more than 2-3 times against Rock. It would be glorious though.

Your talking about the effect of marciano's punches on people's faces... which i can't argue, it's awesome. When I think of killer instinct though it's more how they act. Dempsey was a scowling, furious whirlwind of rage in the ring. Marciano was just generally nice guy that happened to hit hard. If you just met rocky walking down the street you probably wouldn't be too afraid of him, compared to Dempsey, who looked like he wanted to eat you.

What has this comparison to do with making a prediction in a fantasy matchup?

Nothing. I'm sure Rocky's ooponents were plenty scared of those punches he threw :)
