When did boxers first start drinking water between rounds? They used to just gargle with it then spit it out. I can understand the risk of getting stomach cramps from drinking too much but that must only be due to drinking way too much water because fighters now drink water between rounds and have done for a while. For example, I'm sure it happened during the Holmes Spinks fights and it definitely happened when Eubank fought Watson. I'm thinking that maybe for years there was a fallacy about drinking water between rounds that exposed boxers to unnecessary risks. Robinson vs Maxim being a prime example.
I don’t spar properly these days but when I used to I needed water between rounds. Whenever I’m doing any form of exercise my performance is better if I drink water in between. I only run 3ks and do longer bike rides but without water I struggle. Same with resistance training. Could well be psychological.
Awesome display of skills in this fight, nothing Joel Julio could've done to beat Quintana. Trainer Buddy Mcgirt ..if I remember , constantly kept telling Julio to drink more water. It was outdoors in record breaking heat. This content is protected
