    Hi,

Im an amatuer boxer presently. Iv been training for about 3 years and I hold my own very in the ring. im an outside fighter, I often drop my left arm when fighting as it allows me to to set people up as well as slip and roll with ease. My coach always tells me to keep the hand up. When both my hands are up I dont feel very comfortable, but when I drop my left hand I feel confident and comfortable fighting.

    What do you guys think?

You have to adapt to your opponent

It depends on who you're fighting. It's not going to work on everyone.

switch it about that way it keeps ur opponent guessinand wen u jab ur throwing it from 2 different angles, one upwards and one straight out. Also if ur in range of bein hit raise it or else move out. If a fighter times u with a rite hand ove hte top adn has success with that shop keep it up. If a fighter has a sig ificant speed advantage over u and throws combinations u shud keep it up. Hope that helps.

When Im hitting the bag or shadowboxing i keep it high, but i agree - in sparing I keep it lower. I feel like it improves my peripheral vision.

Do what works. Maybe you FEEL worse with your hand up, but do you get better results? And vice versa.

I've always dropped my lead hand by habit, but I'm slow. (Think Carl Froch, only less of a puncher, less tough, no hot girlfriend, and maybe 1/100th of the boxing skills.) I've been working on keeping it up but you're right, it does not feel natural or good. However, not getting hit as much is a worthwhile benefit. And I land harder. I just feel like my left obstructs my vision a lot.

Dont do what Allan Greed did against Johnson. Glen just kept punching him in the face os Allan was dumb enough to hold his guard low.
