I could see it ending just like that fight as well, Makabu working away pounding his head in and the ref steps in.:deal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WsG8cJQpw4
Not really Drozd is an ex brawler with good power and toughness while Makabu's skills seem to be underrated by many. Now he is quite flatfooted while Drozd has shown wonderful newfound footwork the last couple years but outside of that they're both skilled. He seems to have fallen in love with that footwork and does utilize it a little too much for my liking at times moving excessively but his mobility is a huge factor in this one. Drozd was a completely different fighter back then and uterly transformed himself from a brawler to a classy boxer/puncher.
I've got Drozd here, Makabu is a good fighter but he's crude and his activity is not great either, I see Drodz outboxing him, his footwork is sublime. Although Makabu has proven me wrong before, he reminds me of Froch that guy, he doesn't look amazing but somehow gets the job done every time.
Makabu got stopped in his pro debut so he is hardly immune from power punches. In fact; Drozd could also be the more durable of the two.
I read an interview about that apparently it was a language issue. He got dropped was okay but when the ref asked him something he didn't understand the question, just shook his head yes like 'i'm okay lets go", then the ref waved it off. Have some of these people responding even seen Makabu fight? He fights much more like LHW/CW James Toney than Carl Froch.
Never considered Drozd a brawler. :conf The loss to Arslan was the product of being green and poorly conditioned having fought stupid. I don't think his actual style back then was TOO different. He was always pretty skilled.
Horrible? He knocked him out in 6. Huck isn't the best fighter on the planet by any means, but he has looked better than Lebedev over the past few fights for sure. Because it was, please tell me what you scored it.
It was unfair of me to bring up the Arslan loss, but it was a stoppage, I don't think Drozd is impervious to being hurt in spite of his improved skills and stamina and Makabu is just to guy to push him to the limit. Mchunu arguably is just as skilled as Drozd if not more and he got him out of there, Makabu will pull the upset here. Didn't you think Mchunu would win IB?:think:hey
I did but I also never thought Mchunu was better than Drozd. Slicker, but smaller and without the same base of fundamentals. (and has iffier stoppage losses than Drozd's)
