First time they serve a 5 year ban ( to allow for anything remotely accidental).. The 5 years then ruins their peak boxing age and also their chance of earning money..
Second time around - Lifetime ban
ps. Dillian Whyte, Canelo, Chisora, Joshua, Fury are all on the juice

**** a second strike. Life time ban first time around and it will cut the dopers out. People have died fighting in the ring. Imagine it would have been Rivas who has died this weekend. What happens then? Hearn and BBBoC are held to account? But what about the fighter who’s gave himself an unfair advantage?

    Give them all lengthy bans.

Regular substance that can accidental = 2 year ban.
Steroids, artificial drugs = 4 years
Caught 2nd time for regular substances = 4 years
Caught 2nd time for artifical and such = life ban
Caught 3rd time for regular substances = life ban

Unless you're Mexican or American, because then it's a maximum of 6 months for any and all infringements. ;)

Like in athletics etc. You can retrospectively give medals etc, but the athlete receiving the gold 4 years later will have missed out on the winning moment and all the sponsorship opportunities.

    It isn't enough.

    Fail = Life

There is no grey areas, if you think it is worth gambling to beat the system then good luck.

keep the bans the way they are for initial fails, repeat offenders should be treated far more harshly.

I would like to see all samples kept and revisited over time, retest them even after they have retired any failing samples found in the future and they should have their records stripped and sue the hell out of them. Like sue them for the purse they received for EVERY fight since the failed test. take them to the cleaners.

All fighters to be tested 365 if they are of championship level. I dont think the costs they quote need to be anywhere near as high as they are for testing. Mandatory test every 3 months that they fighter has to arrange ie go to the clinic and travel himself, random test taken also. The money made from suing the failed fighters can be used to fund the testing.

I think it really depends on the drug and when they have taken it. For example if someone has a line or a joint and gets caught the ban should be alot less than a Jarrell Miller type. Anyone taking the sort of stuff he took should get a lifetime ban.

Miller didn’t even get a ban really. He got 6 months. Heavyweights only fight twice a year.

I also think the promotion team should be take some hit for it too. As soon as promoters start feeling the heat as it hits them in the pocket then they will actively look to start ensuring their fighters are clean

If you have a stable of 50 fighters up and down the country how are you supposed to check up on every one constantly and ensure they don’t take drugs? That would be UKAD’s job.

Simple they put measures in place where the fighter has turn up themselves and check in for tests. The promoting team do in house testing. They put clauses in the contract where the lose all their purses for fights they had under said promotional banner. Like I said as soon as they are held in some way accountable then they will have ways of figuring it out. They represent the fighter they should have some sort of liability also. Like I said as soon as there is ramification onto the the promoter then things will improve.

The measures are in place for them to check in for tests. That’s what UKAD are for.

I agree about the purses. Dillian should be stripped of his for that fight.

I don’t think you can blame Hearn for Whyte failing, you can call him a hypocrite and what not but he can’t be punished. It’s Whyte and his trainers who are with him every single day of camp who need punishing. They must know what’s going on.

So a fighter has to make his own way to a testing facility every 2/3 months of the year? I dint say anything about blaming Hearn at all. But he has a responsibility to ensure the fighter he is representing is clean and not cheating. Dillian should be stripped of his purse and sued for every fight he has had. As soon as fighters get properly punished then they will stop. Whyte was already a millionaire before the Rivas fight so stripping him of that purse alone wont hurt him enough. Strip him of every penny he has and then there are real repercussions for being a cheat. Clearly the is not a big enough punishment for fighters being on gear as so many of them are on it.
