I just saw an article from the LA Times on March 1st : http://articles.latimes.com/2010/mar/01/sports/la-sp-boxing-tests-20100302

"the executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has ruled there is no "good cause" to institute any prefight drug screening for either boxer before their bout."

I was wondering if more information has come out since this article was written to refute his claims. Also, I would like to know what people think about the absence of drug testing for their fight.

TX is one of those states that do NOT have strict drug testing regualations. I don't think it really matter given the fact that both Manny and Josh have never been linked to any PEDs, roids or other banned substances. Plus most of their fights have been in states that have strict drug testing regulations where they've passed everyone.

Texas does not require any testing of athletes in combat sports. The commission can request tests on demand, but there is no scheduled or routine testing protocol for combat sports. In their words, they prefer to let the promoters work out the details.

The grand irony of this is that some people claim Mayweather pulled the plug on Texas as a venue because then he couldn't use Xylocaine, but he could use ****ing horse steroids in Texas and no one would know or care because they don't test at all.

Texas is the wild west of combat sports.

The only one doing testing for the fight will be the WBO after the fight.

If Clottey runs through Pac ..lets say he stops him within 3 rounds ,I bet Roach and Arum would then want to do every possible test on Clottey their is. Then will we know something is wrong ,who knows Clottey may knock the **** out of Pac tomorrow...No catch weight the guy has never been stop before ,he look very comfortable at the weighin ,hes going to weight at least 160 fight time. Manny may break both of his hands on Joshua shoulders and head alone. A fight like this could discourage Pac after the 5 round and on top of that Clottey never seems to bruise ....Pac could be in real trouble for this fight.

this is good news. How many other fights happen in other parts of the world where they don't do testing?
