drug testing in any sport should be embraced.......i dont give a damn how it is or who is asking for it...every athlete IF given the opportunity should always be willing to submit to any drug test. this is good for all sports but for some people if he's a good guy...he gets a pass when he doesnt want to take the drug test....well full random at least...there is a person out there who wants a "window" in a random drug test....go figure.
Damn man why can't you just put something meaningful without thrashing Pacman and glorifying Floyd? Boxing the most dangerous sport it the planet? Guess I might be wrong to believe that the likes of UFC, MMA are the modern day gladiator sport. Boxing the most dangerous sport it the planet? Quit being too melodramatic.
Hey its not about Manny or Floyd. Its about the fact that the testing in boxing is out dated. How about you tell me one fighter in Boxing, MMA, UFC or any other fighting sport that has tested positive before the actual fight has taking place? Tell me one person. Now how do you think the drug testing should be changed or do you not have an opinion about it. I could care less who ask who for OSDT. Its a good thing for the sport in general. Now I am waiting for that name. Since you mentioned UFC. The guy who just faced Silva who was winning until he got choked out failed his post fight **** test. Don't you think that if he was tested before the fight it could have prevented any guy from getting hurt. Even if they started doing the urine test at random in every state before the fights would be a start to better testing.
Plus I said it before that if Manny asked Floyd I would feel the same way about it as I do now. I like both guys as fighters I just pick one over the other if and when they meet. Now I am waiting on a name from you.:hi:
people are naive if they think floyd demanded OSDT to clean up the sport. and where are this drug/testing experts before floyd demanded it?
Says who? you? You sound as if I am in disagreement with a more strict drug test procedure. Well you're wrong budy. I have been saying this over and over again. Someone has to make a move/petition to change the drug test policy of the commission. Boxer asking random drug test to another is idiotic. Do we need a more strict drug test procedure in boxing? YES How should it be done? Go to the commission. Not Floyd demanding the **** from anybody.
I am not that stupid to believe you budy. Did I ever said I was in disagreement with a commission level drug test procedure to clean up the sport? What name? You want me to engage a childish debate with you? Why don't you repost that article saying its not only Floyd who asked for a random drug test.
There is nothing wrong with implementing drug testing. What is wrong was the way Floyd/GBP asked for it from Pac. They should have: 1. Asked the boxing commission who will sanction the Pac to implement a stricter drug testing procedure. 2. Asked politely and not accused Pac of cheating publicly. As businessmen, they should know that you don't enter in to a negotiation in bad faith. Imagine two potential business partners with one asking for a stricter auditing process but at the same time saying in public that the reason why he is asking for a stricter auditing process is because the other guy is a thief. It's a shame that Floyd and GBP claim that they are businessmen yet they forget how negotiations work.
An example of how strict drug testing rules are in certain countries: last year Belgian tennis players Xavier Malisse and Yanina Wickmayer were banned for one year for breaking anti-doping rules. You know what their guilt was? They didn't notify the local agency where they are gonna be at a certain date, as under the 'whereabouts rule' you have to report your exact location well ahead, 365 days a year so random drug tesing could be done even if you're on vacation with your family. They didn't fail any test, nor there was a test performed, nor the agency wanted to perfrom a test, they just didn't fill in the whereabouts and were banned for one year. Later this decision was overruled, but believe me they now follow the rules accordingly. Can you imagine something like this in boxing? Now it's too strict for my taste but it's a good example of how seriously some countries take doping.
I agree, but take James Toney's case for example: he used steroids for muscle recovery I believe, and failed the post-fight test simply because the John Ruiz fight was moved to an earlier date. If it had taken place on the original date it's unlikely he would have failed. Some athletes use PEDs during the recovery period well before training camp, so when exactly to start performing random drug testing is quite a debate as well - but we're far from that debate.
Well the politics behind drug test is the main concern. For sure pushing for OSDT at commission level would prove to be very difficult. OSDT is no longer OSDT if the boxers will not be tested all year round, then comes in the cost of the procedure. Who will pay for the cost? Not every country has WADA certified drug test facilty. Philippines is one of them, meaning blood will still have to be shipped out.
