No one is or thinks he was due to that performance, IB was trying to give Danny credit, and I don't think what he said was genuine, and that he didn't deserve any.
Dannyboy has more respect for Rios than most boxing fans do, is a point. The same boxing fans that worship rock em sock em robots are the first ones to cast him aside same as the last and same as the next. Sure, Dannyboy might be taking a jab at fans (EDIT: not his fans, but his passionate legion of, for lack of a better term, "haters"), but I don't question the respect shown by him either way. And what he said is the absolute truth. So I just don't see anything to get upset or jump up and call it fraudulent over.
Nothing to do with his cherry picking and the terrible decisions that he shouldn't have gotten... It's just because he's a rican!
Yeah it wasn't heart felt for sure. Half using Rios to point out he was in a worse boat previous(according to him)..Used to get his point across, nothing more !
Stop making excuses, Danny has always been a limited fighter. Manny is basically fighting on fumes at this point. He needs to retire, but for him to fight Mike Alvarado is crazy and you people gave Floyd **** about Berto Lol. Also Manny flight Rios as well and he was shot to bits then as well. Stop making excuses your bias is showing I expect you to be just as hard on Manny as you are on Danny
Shouldn't of took it. Could've been you walking out the Museum if you hadn't of folded. Seedless grapes are sheet, you need the seeds for goodness !
Acknowledging the clear fact this was a cherry pick... is throwing off on Rios? God forbid fans call fighters out for cherry picking... dont want to insult their opponents I have tons of respect and admiration for Rios. Has nothing to do with criticizing this matchup.
Danny is right. 5 years LOL, they still call him Cherry after Khan, Matthysse, Thurman, Peterson, etc. Yeah some of those fights that he took werent very good but all great fighters of the past took tuneups, most great fighters of the past took on fighters even worse than Rod Salka, worse than a faded Paulie
Yet, you picked Rios in the league... : In all seriousness, Rios looked way more inspired against Garcia than he did against Timmeh. He had his best round in forever against a higher class opponent in the sixth and was competitive in several others. I don't think this version of Rios would have come close to beating Desert Storm, but he probably doesn't fold quite as meekly as the bloated version that faced Bradley a couple of years earlier. I think Danny may have been a bit impressed with the effort Rios produced and gave him some props. The fact that he's cherry picked in the past (and present) doesn't necessarily exclude the possibility of a show of respect altogether.
