    Bobick vs Jack Dempsey

    Dempsey wins

Dempsey is closer to Bobick in height than Marciano is, still lighter, and far more explosive at the start. He wrecked Jess Willard (6'6½", 245 lbs) in the first round. His style—low entries, sudden bursts, hooks from either hand—is built to get inside a tall man’s jab.

Bobick’s best weapon is the long jab and the straight right behind it. Dempsey’s best weapon is not letting that jab stay in play. If Dempsey gets to the body and the head in the first three rounds, Bobick’s chin becomes the story again.

Dempsey could be hit and was not a modern defensive wizard. A composed Bobick who refuses to panic could win rounds at range. The problem is composure under fire. Norton and Tate did not give him time to settle. Prime Dempsey gives even less.

Lean: Dempsey by early-to-mid stoppage. Decision for Bobick only if he boxes with unusual discipline and Dempsey cannot plant his feet.

    Hello, InMemoryofJakeLamotta.

So Grok says it leans Dempsey? I will stick with Claude. Claude indicated that Bobick would be fortunate to last the 58 seconds he went with Ken Norton, and most likely would not. I agree with Claude.

Duane was a pretty big fella, but he could be overwhelmed by a fast-starting blitz, as can be seen in the Norton fight.

In fact, Duane was also later overwhelmed in the first round by a not so fast starter in John Tate, John being more known for being an evenly paced, tactical fighter.

Dempsey was particularly fast and ferocious starter, wasn't he? This one isn't looking good for Duane.
