Miller is hiring Dubios to spar with him because he`s the same height as AJ and similar build and power, is this a wise tactic? Dubious doesn`t fight like AJ at all, he`s much more basic and doesn`t throw combo`s or anything, who will get the upper hanmd when these two spar one another?
Who'd you prefer? I can hardly think of anyone better suited for the task. Perhaps Joe Joyce. But Dubois is young so he needs these sessions, he won't come with demands. Perfect choice if you ask me.
Depend if Dubois is deemed one of his main sparring partners to replicate Joshua. Dubois is still very green and has a lot of room for improvement, but don't forget he did recently get taken the distance by Johnson, I can see the benefit fir Dubois but not so much miller
Joyce would have been an awful choice he`s more lie Miller than AJ who has more skill than both these big punchers.
You can't, in general, expect the sparring partner to be too close in skill, style and ability to the guy you're training for. Just a close, basic facsimile as a foundation to build upon, work off and develop. Imagine trying to replicate prime Ray Leonard, Hearns, Hagler for example in your sparring.Unlikely so you work off a basic starting point stand in. (You guys know this anyway..but I'd already started typing so decided to finish regardless haha)
It might turn up on youtube in 5 years when Dubios is about to fight a 37 year old Wilder in a crossroads fight or something, lol!
Good experience for Dubois. As the op says though DDD is really just a novice and will not stretch Miller like he needs (i don't mean stretch in the physical sense - he is clearly wide enough).
I don't think it is a bad choice at all Mark. You're never going to get an exact match but it still a happy inbetween. DD is a big strong come forward guy and that may be all they are looking for from him. My guess is Miller gets the better of it but Dubois will test him in sparring in his own way, which is all that Team Miller can ask for.
