While I don't agree, Usyk dominated Fury, I do agree Dubois's lost to Joyce is being laughably overlooked and has aged like milk ever since.
It holds plenty of weight, nobody else in Usyk’s career had controlled him in like Fury did over those middle rounds. He made a much, much better account of himself against Usyk even if he should’ve been stopped.
I've never stated Joshua was top 3 ? So why are you even bringing him up ? We're talking about you justifying Fury as number 2 not Joshua who I've never even stated was top 3. Fury's recent run of form does not warrant him being top 2 end of he arguably lost to an MMA fighter in one of the most embarrassing performances in boxing history. And got clearly beaten by Usyk and hasn't had a win over top 10 fighter since 2022 it's that simple.
I can see the argument favoring Dubois behind Usyk. However, Fury-Usyk was a close fight (SHHHH. It was. We all saw it. It was a close fight). The knockdown was essentially the difference. (Usyk even called it his toughest fight.) Regardless, if you're rating those three (Usyk, Fury and Dubois) ... head-to-head, Fury-Usyk was A LOT closer than Usyk-Dubois was. And Fury certainly didn't quit, like Daniel Dubois most definitely did against Usyk. I'm loving this run Dubois is on. I hope it continues. He's won me over. I hope we don't see Dubois quit (which he clearly did) like that ever again. But Dubois has had two wins over top 10 guys in his whole career. If Fury loses to Usyk again, I'm sure Dubois will move ahead of Tyson. But Dubois isn't there yet. And Fury could certainly win the rematch with Usyk next if his nose doesn't get broken in the first or second round again.
It seems you don’t know how boxing is scored then. Usyk outlanded Fury in ten rounds, landing fifty-one high-impact power punches compared to Fury’s twenty-three. He also broke Fury’s nose in round eight and hurt him more than he’s ever been hurt in a boxing match before. It wasn’t a close fight at all—Fury only won the fifth and sixth rounds, and his stamina was pretty much gone in the second half of the fight as a result. That’s why he won’t win the rematch either. He simply can’t keep up with Usyk. Even when he ruffled Usyk’s feathers, he didn’t jump on him. He criticised Joshua for not jumping on Usyk, but clearly, there’s something about Usyk that bothers these bigger guys. Whether it’s the pace, the movement, or Usyk hitting harder than it seems—who knows. But Fury still being cautious in the sixth, not jumping on Usyk even when he was clearly uncomfortable, tells you a lot about why this matchup will always be bad news for Fury.
Judges don't follow punch stat during a fight. They don't watch replays. They sit closest to the action and score it in real time. It was a close flight. The difference in the actual scoring was the knockdown. Nobody cares how you or anyone else scored it. When comparing the three men, Fury was much better head-to-head than Dubois was against Usyk. Dubois just beat his first top 10 opponent earlier this year. We're all excited for him. But he isn't #2 behind Usyk yet. And Fury has the next shot at upending Usyk. Dubois doesn't. If Fury wins the rematch, Dubois isn't going to be ranked ahead of Usyk. Three for Dubois seems right for the time being.
Jabbr is the official punch scoring technology used by Riyadh Season. It’s not about fans scoring, it’s not about which fighter you support, it’s not about humans pushing the buttons real time ringside. You can’t have these excuses any more when it was Turki Alalshikh himself who wanted this technology at his shows. They are using it on Riyadh Season shows officially now and the plan is to have this technology established all across boxing because it’s ridiculously more accurate than human scoring and it doesn’t have any biases either. Study the official numbers, Fury won only two rounds. Flicking jabs and showboating are not winning rounds. This content is protected
3rd seems fair. Great run since his losses, but his losses were pretty damning, and the near loss was almost as bad as those losses.
I'm not sure where i would've rated Joshua at the time but definitely below Parker who had 2 good wins over Wilder, Zhang. I would say maybe 5 for Joshua ? before the Dubois loss was about right ?
We've had some back and forths but in the end we're just passionate boxing fans it's no hard feelings mate it's just if I feel something is right or wrong I'm quite blunt with my opinions at times no ill feelings intended. Let's just hope for a great fight again in December I'm not a fan of Fury but I really enjoyed his fight vs Usyk it felt like a throw back to the old days with the skill involved. Which in all honesty you don't see too much of it nowadays in Heavyweight division because everyone is so big and lumbering. I'll give Fury credit for atleast being a skilled big man.
