Yeah its true that his size and power is impressive for his age, I mean jesus... look at him But no way does he have the fear factor Tyson imposed on his opponents and the world. Those guys didnt look scared to me, personally. As Dubois doesnt even look menacing, he looks imposing and there is a difference. Tyson was both imposing and menacing.... Dubois is shy and rarely likes to make any eye contact at all. TYSON, looks you straight in the eye, he doesnt take his eye of you for one second no matter what you are doing. Big difference
Didn't Larry Holmes say Tyson was the only fighter he ever fought that he felt was trying to kill him. I think George Foreman said he wanted nothing to do with Tyson. That is serious intimidation when you make seasoned and accomplished guys like Holmes and Foreman fear you.
Tyson was the most impressive of all because he destroyed taller and heavier fighters than he was, although I remember in the 1980s only a few knew in Europe that he was less than 5 feet and 11 inches tall. There wasnt all the information of these times on boxers.
Yeah for real, he fights like a killer, acts like a killer... from the first stare he "has you"... Dubois fights like that to a degree, but ive seen him back up a few times, when he got hit back... Tyson simply does not back up. Even if you put him down, the guy is still trying to fight his way back up (in his prime years). But Dubois is timid at face offs, and outside the ring... which is fine.. Like Ruiz etc... I'm just saying Tyson takes it to a whole 'nother level. There have been plenty of killer fighters over the years, that go into the ring with maximum violence but get shut down because they werent technical enough... Tyson had all that violence, rage, power PLUS technical ability.. so he really was a handful,.
Yeah even I didnt know, I just believe the 5'11.5 shown in "Tale of the tape" but thats what made Tyson even more engimatic... he was short statured compared to the giant HW's but his own physique was beastly... like serious bodybuilding levels... and his neck was just built for war. Watching him intimidate and dominate massive heavyweights was just inspiring... thats like some Van Damme, Bruce lee stuff in the living. Thats why he is an inspiration to so many boxers, in all arenas, and so many athletes... he was just a phenomenon... force of nature. No one like him, maybe never again. I always admired his work ethic in the gym, guy trained like a beast...
Many saw his neck and thought he was heavier than his opponents. Besides he seemed to have long arms in TV...
You say that like Bruno had a **** career or something. Bruno only lost to top opposition and usually he was ahead on the score cards at the time. I would place Bruno's right hand in the top 10 heaviest punches of all time at heavyweight.and his jab was non too shabby either. If Dubois was to emulate Bruno's level of success, he'll have had a decent career but, in my opinion he can eclipse Bruno's achievements if he carries on the way he's going. I definately think he has an edge over the likes of Ajagbe and Joyce as he has a definate edge on hand speed and foot movement. I think his ring IQ is already more advanced as well. Hergovic would be a very interesting match up down the line and I could see him besting the likes of Pulev, Chisora, Takam and Povetkin in a few fights time as he will likely have improved considerably while they will have regressed somewhat. Would love to see Dubois vs Hunter in some sort of eliminator fight tail end of 2020 early 21 as I see that as being an absolute hum dinger. Exciting times ahead hopefully
I kind of agree about Dubois not being particularly menacing barring his physical presence but, Gorman definately shelled up when he fealt Dubois' power and strength and that will likely happen more often than not until he meats top 20 opposition. Fujimoto has no place being at heavyweight and would make for a small Cruiser to be honest but, saying all that, that right hand was an absolute peach and would have anyone at least rocked and likely in some trouble. Just need to see how he takes a shot from a high tier opponent to determine how far he's likely to go.
I dont want to poop any boxer. It takes stones to do that for a living. I am not one to call guys bums who are not all time greats. My exposure to Bruno was in fights where he came up short in fighting top competition. I don't know how far Dubois can go. He is only 22. My core point is not to rush him. Get him the best training possible and help him develop as a fighter. Let him develop into the best he can be.
