He's heavily involved with Daniel's career and by many accounts difficult to deal with. They left Martin Bowers under a cloud as he was made the scape goat for the Joyce loss and then decided to link up with Tibbs but after a few weeks Tibbs found the old man too difficult so cut there working relationship, then they moved to McGuigan....... which has now resulted in this.
I know it worked out for Fury with the move away from Davison but someone's old man wanting to be the star and calling the shots is a pain in the arse in boxing. Seems to be the case with Dubois' dad. Shane has lost a lot of top fighters because of Barry. Teofimo Jr's performances have fell off a cliff with his dad having more and more influence. Shawn Porter's dad acted like he was on a full on power trip in the Crawford fight. Many more examples.
Having spent a good amount of time in NY and being around Lopez Snr, I can confirm he is a complete idiot who I wouldn’t put in charge of a packet of crisps.
Yep so many examples of it. Roy Jones Sr was by all accounts really controlling and RJJ stepped away. Floyd had a turbulent relationship with Floyd Sr Shane Mosely ended up firing his old man as well. Come to think of it, off the top of my head, the only one I can think of which stood the test of time and was a really successful father son partnership was Enzo and Joe Calzaghe ?
I'd say Lomachenko too although his dad shuns the limelight that much I've no idea if he still trains him. Guessing we'll find out Saturday if he's on camera in the corner. I know he did the odd fight with Usyk but Usyk seems to have Yuri Tkachenko most fights nowadays so maybe he's retired from it all.
I think fathers training can occasionally work, but not in the long term (Calzaghes apart), however it’s fathers managing boxers careers which is a complete car crash. Kell Brooks dad did him no favours interfering in his career, which did not reach the heights it should have. Let’s not bring up Chris Eubank Jnr and Snr..sheesh.

The father Dave Dubois offered an ultimatum to McGuigan. Either McGuigan would stop working with Caroline or he would take his son elsewhere. And the leading trainer picked Caroline over Daniel.“
That is very true and a good example. I thought Len was his trainer and Frank Warren was his manager when he promoted him?
