Hopefully Simon Jordan asks them whether they will give Kevin Lerena a rematch and why the 3 knockdown rule wasn't enforced under WBA conditions. He should also ask him why round 1 of Dubois vs Lerena ended 10 seconds before 3 minutes were up. Dubois should focus on recovering and beating someone better than Trevor Bryan, Joe Cusumano and Nathan Gorman.
Not a chance, Lerena who? would have been the reply. Dubois claims he misread the count and Charles said Pabon was favouring Usyk even at the end with the count!
Seen a lot worse rip offs. They’re papering over the fact he quit again. However, in my opinion he deserves a rematch.
We'll never know for sure if there was a low blow or not or if Usyk would have recovered to an 8-count, we do know that Dubois subsequently lost fair and square after the restart. The first doubt might give some grounds for a rematch at some stage or for Dubois to retain mandatory status, but not for it to be Usyk's next fight.
Agree mate. He won almost every round before and after too and actually got a bit of a second wind a couple of rounds after the low blow but the spin Laura Woods was trying to play was just biased in my opinion. Making out Usyk was gassing so he threw the sink at him to get him out. No, he started throwing more sting behind his shots and some more combos because he knew he could get him at that point.
Kind of like he did with Bellew. Knowing when to turn up the gas and chase it down, the mark of a more experienced fighter.
1. It was a low blow. 2. The ref called it a low blow straight off the bat so Usyk knew he had the full 5 minute window to milk and therefore did not have a count to beat. 3. Usyk won every round. 4. If I'm Tyson Fury I'm doing the exact same to Usyk and then following up on it unlike Dubois.
Fury would be lucky to reach Usyk's balls given the height of him! Shouldn't be much risk of a low blow
Yes mate and as I mentioned in another thread the much maligned Bellew was good enough to be winning the rounds at least. I don’t think Dubois won more than 1 or 2. I think the low blow controversy has helped his cause and raise his stock in what was an ok performance he’s now got sympathy and backing of public. It’s not like he’d just pinged Usyk’s head about for 9 rounds like Groves did in the first Froch fight. #Mandated haha. Still can’t believe that was nearly 10 years ago by the way.
I hate crap like this. Just learn from been in the ring with somebody as good as Usyk and apply it. We don't need a rematch and only want Usyk v Fury next
Let's just keep trying to deflect attention away from Dubois quitting. There is a simple question needing to be asked. Why the fcuk after the supposed knock down why couldn't Dubois do anything to hurt Usyk again? Dubois didn't even finish the 5th round the strongest!!!
Dubois and Charles claiming that he wanted to get up and continue at the count but the ref called it off which they were happy with because 'it's his call' just goes to show how much of joke this 'controversy' is. They're happy to accept him calling off the fight and ending his challenge despite him wanting to continue but are apoplectic at Usyk getting the rub of the green on a borderline call? Surely they should be ranting and raving about the soft stoppage too?
This attempt by team Dubois to milk the low blow rubbish is utter cringe. I'd come away frokm the fight thinking he'd done ok. moved more fluidly than in previous fights and had a go, end notwithstanding. This however, this is embarrassing and as for a rematch, he didnt deserve the shot in the first place so he can gtf if he gets in the way of a meaningful fight.
I guess you could say Frank is doing his job as a promoter to turn the loss around quickly and change the narrative. In a way he's doing a good job for his man. Shameless though.
