Strong rumours that DDD is linking up with Mark Tibbs. Great move in my opinion if Dubois is set to split with Martin Bowers following the loss to Joyce.
Smart move at this point. Tibbs worked wonders with Whyte after the AJ loss, however would have liked for him to go with a forward thinking coach or someone who can work on his weaknesses. Personally think a movement upcoming coach like Angel Fernandez would have been a good fit for him. Tibbs is from the oldschool mentatility similar to Bowers but much more accomplished. Not a bad move for him, would have been fun to see him link up with Jonathan Banks too.
Good move for him, and he'd get some good sparring with Jonny Fisher who he has previously sparred with. I think Dave Coldwell would have made a good fit, but that was never likely since Coldwell only takes on Matchroom fighters.
After the Hammer defeat Coldwell quickly deflected the blame off himself to Price. He said Price suffers with nerves before a fight and said he wasn't responsible for his strength and conditioning, even though as lead trainer he would have. This is because Price was looking good but gassed as he came into the fight too high a weight. Low blow from Coldwell for sure then. To be honest Coldwell has improved as a trainer since then but also managing his fighter after a fight. I remember in his early days Chris Eubank riled him up when Eubank Jr was going to fight Tom Doran.
Go to the Mayweather gym. In fact, no, they do doghouse sparring and will kick a quitter to the curb.
Coldwell might be on IFL more but did Anthony Fowler improve at all? Did Jamie McDonnell make weight well in Japan? Did unbeaten Jordan Gill improve?
Coldwell had a plan for Fowler for the Fitzgerald fight which Fowler was executing but he thought he could stop Fitzgerald and under-estimated him. He didn't really listen to Coldwell. McDonnell is a tall man so making weight was always going to be a struggle, and Inoue would have destroyed him regardless. Gill I definitely believe has improved. The Tinoco fight was what it was, I don't know whether Gill actually was ill or was making an excuse, but he has picked up some good wins over Ryan Doyle and Reece Belotti, better than before when he was fighting nobodies.
Warriors code eh? Personally I blame Dubois corner, they knew the kid was done and sold him out. If Bowers had told the ref that his fighter was spent, it would have spared Dubois the indignity of taking a knee.
Fowler was GB captain. He didn't improve after turning pro and left Coldwell. If Gill was as confident as you he wouldn't have pulled out of the British title fight that is happening next week.
Stupid move. Jimmy Tibbs yes but not Mark Tibbs. There is a reason Dillian Whyte left him. Better trainers out there by far.
Fowler spent too much time in the amateurs and was insistent on fighting at 154 instead of 160. I think Gill would have fought Mould but that was more Coldwell not wanting to take a risky fight after Gill has already beaten some domestic contenders, and also to get a fight for a fighter he manages in Leigh Wood. I heard Gill is fighting for the European Title next instead.
Mark Tibbs is a very very good trainer And its all about the fit between trainer and boxer anyway lol at Whyte ,he left Tibbs and got banged out weeks later
