In that sense, it reminds me of McCall beating Lennox. Emanuel said that they worked on that type of situation over and over in preparation for that fight, because he believed Lennox often dropped that left too low.
The copium is unreal here. He landed the first punch by using his skills and exploiting AJs fear, and he continued to land bombs at will after that. He even finished the fight with a perfect counter shot. The reality is AJ has only gotten as far as he has today by fighting with favourable terms, constant rematches when he loses and by avoiding the more dangerous punchers in their primes. He's used to bullying smaller and older fighters and got found out by people who were willing to exchange.
Nah man you don't understand. Ruiz got lucky cause he landed a counter on AJ's temple. Then Usyk got lucky twice because AJ used the wrong gameplan and Dubois got lucky on Saturday by landing a bomb on AJ's chin. Poor AJ is so unlucky.
Looked like Joshua wanted out, from the very first exchange. Perhaps something weren't right in training camp. Came in soft and heavier than usual.
Just pointing out he hasn't really fought any big punchers in their prime. Wilder being the key opponent along with late bloomers like Joyce, Hrgovic and Zhang. I wouldn't really consider Pov, Wlad or Pulev anywhere near their prime when AJ fought them, but he had other options if he really wanted to persue them.
Dubois deserves full credit for game plan and confidence. Terrible loss for AJ. He got blown away. More time in the first round and he would have lost by first round KO. He got a reprieve by the bell and still AJ couldn’t muster much. I do believe he has exited his prime but I don’t think, by enough to explain away this loss. I gave him pass for Ruiz. He clearly was on cruise control and when he hurt Ruiz he got careless and got caught going for the kill. It happens. And he avenged the loss in a dull but easy rematch for him. He can’t get a pass for this week. His punch resistance was poor, his recuperation abilities were poor, and his defense stunk. This was a terrible performance in a huge marquee bout.
Pulev was pushing 40 with something like 40% KO rate. Such a perfect opponent for AJ the dad bod destroyer.
But he didn't avoid Wilder, it was th eother way around. AJ fought everybody who was willing to face him from 2016 to 2019.
