The papers tomorrow are reporting that gatherings of over 500 will be banned from next week so all four PPVs will likely be cancelled.

Adam Smith looked worried in an interview earlier- Sky will come under pressure to issue refunds on sports packages especially if this situation goes on for months. Could prove messy if the Premier League season is cancelled as well.

 

Catastrophic for sport. Broadcasters, clubs all going to take severe hits. Government and insurers can’t bail everyone out. Utter chaos. If this is prolonged it will be the end of Scottish football as we know it, just can’t see how clubs would survive a prolonged period without matchday revenue.

Also clubs with sole financial backers: these backers will want out. Absolute chaos all round.

You say it'll be a prolonged period but they estimate the peak will be in ten to fourteen weeks with a similar downturn after that.

Twenty weeks from now is the last day of July. So whilst clubs will take a hit, I think all this talk of catastrophe is a bit much. Your life will probably be quite different but people need to accept it will get better fairly quickly. Talk of society melting down will probably just encourage the nutters to think it is rather than just sitting tight and letting it ride out.

 

I said “if” it’s a prolonged period. I don’t think you understand how finances work in Scottish football. Matchday revenue keeps clubs alive. There’s a reason why almost all players outwith Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen are on one year deals.

 

Many clubs down here will suffer as well mate - quite a few could follow Bury FC if the season is finished now.

From what I have read, it certainly looks like the next match we see (if we are lucky) is the start of the 2020/21 season - this season looks over as stadiums closed now will not suddenly open when the huge number of unfortunate deaths start appearing.

The football gods are certainly not in the corner of Liverpool FC and I cannot believe this is happening - things like this simply would not happen to Whiskey Nose Ferguson etc.

 

Mate the most galling thing is that this is all as a result of the disgusting culinary practices of Chinese people in China. No offence intended to any Chinese posters here but let’s call a spade a spade why not.

Fair enough if that’s true I’d retract my statement. As far as I’m aware all evidence points to the wet wildlife market in Wuhan.
