People see the muscles, a few ktfos of journeymen, and the hype just blossoms. Happens all the time and always will.
I disagree with Hughie. Those fights with Parker, Pulev and Povetkin have done him no harm whatsoever. Joyce wasn't a massive step up for Dubois on paper. It was a reasonable fight, a good test. Everyone thought so.
That's just the way Warren operates, get a lot of highlight reel KOs, never let them fight anyone above British level, get them a high ranking with your buddies at the WBO and throw them straight into a title fight or an eliminator. Warren is out there to make quick money, not to develop them. Fighting 1 or 2 guys at Wach's level before facing Joyce would have been a good learning experience for Dubois.
My first post, must say the forum looks nicer when registered. I had to register after 2 years of just lurking, because... don't compare Dubois and Yarde, at least no yet. Not after one put up a fight against arguably top 5 heavy, who outweighted him by 7 kilos (ok is not that much). And he got seriously hurt while trying. While Yarde, the bigger guy, didn't, except for one occasion. But he atleast came out of the fight unmarked Anyway, time will tell for Daniel, if he manages to come back.
It's because they don't understand the skills involved in boxing so all they can judge a fighters worth in is their physique, their power and speed. So casuals will get a hard on for some physical specimen knocking out journeymen and call them the next Mike Tyson and promoters like Warren know this and so markets his fighters to appeal to these casual fans because they make up a larger part of the audience, we hardcore fans are a minority and then have to deal with idiots telling us the next hype job is going to crush everyone in sight when they haven't learned to slip a jab.
depends where you are coming from,,, i think the fact that Yarde battled Kov pretty well for many rounds to be proof that he was obviously very impressive,,, Same for DD with JJ, but i get where you guys are coming from regarding peoples going overboard on both of them,,,
its one of my pet hates when someone who doesnt watch boxing tells me about a beast theyve seen. as usually i liked to educate them first, but they arent fans.
I echo the posts commenting on the muscles. It's just a really seductive idea, somehow, the idea of finding a new super-athlete who totally looks the part.
