It did not backfire at all. Gamboa is a highly skilled boxer and former world champion who gave Tank a different. Tank dominated the fight showing combined with his explosive power he is an excellent boxer. The reason Gamboa leg was injured was due to Tank’s power. You will remember Pacquiao did something similar to Tim Bradley though Bradley was able to get to the end. Tank will get to Loma if they fight and Loma won’t be able to take. It may not happen because I believe Teofimo might get to Loma first.

I never think fighters are scared of others, but Tank does genuinely seemed scared at the prospect of facing Loma. Which is strange because I think he has the highest chance of beating Loma again

 

The problem is that Floyd himself used Loma as a boogeyman kind of figure, and I think it stuck to an extent. Floyd did the prudent thing in not making the Loma fight and taking the heat for that...up until him and Davis had beef. Then, Floyd publicly said he wanted Tank to take the Loma fight next and it came off like it was to teach Tank a lesson moreso than anything else.

The way Floyd used Loma's opponents name like that, like facing him is a punishment, how's Tank supposed to gain confidence for a potential showdown? The reaction Tank had when he got asked about Floyd saying that in a prior interview wasn't exactly overflowing with confidence
