Arum says Pavlik next three foes are Lockett, Rubio, Abraham. Were's Duddy? This makes me mad:twisted: I wanted to see Pavlik vs Duddy:|

You want to see Duddy get obliterated? I don't think Duddy deserves that beating.

What, John Duddy? The guy who went life and death with a painfully shot YBC? Yeah, too bad for him, missing out on an opportunity to get wrecked by the much larger and stronger Pavlik. Anybody who's followed my posts here knows I don't think much of KP, but he would do serious, permanent, career-ending damage to Duddy, no question.

Dude I got the same feeling after watching Duddy/Smitchet as I did after watching Banks/Miranda when they asked Jean Pascal "...and you want to fight that "? It was left unspoken but the fighter (Duddy in this case) has some steps to climb before he could dream of Pavlik

Even the guys on the Irish thread think Duddy needs to be brought along a little more before Pavlik. I personally think if he learned from his last fight, that is a very good first step. Compare Duddy's carrer wins with Pavlik at the same point. Then look at the fights Pavlik has had SINCE. This is a tough sport to learn by doing, but that is what you have to do. Keep stepping it up and learning.

Looks like my avatar bet with GreenGloves will never happen. :think

Limited and overrated though he is, Pavlik at any stage of his development would have wailed on the pathetically shot version of Campas and stopped him inside 6. :yep

It is just plain clear that Duddy is not world champ material.

If he gets absolutly destroyed by Pavlik, his marketability falls. He is a likeable fighter and the T.V networks can make some good $$$ off him, so I dont see him getting a title shot all that soon.
If he keeps winning, and lifts his profile a bit more than after all the fights, and the winner of Abe-Pavlik is found. He might be a good "easy" defence for one of them.
For now I think he shouldnt be stepping up to much because it will end in tears.

You don't have to dislike Duddy to think a Pavlik fight should never happen. As a matter of fact, if you like the guy at all you should hope KP washes his hands of MW for good and that Duddy doesn't ever follow him up in weight. :yep

Why would you want to see Duddy get destroyed?

it's good in a way. It'll allow Duddy to get more experience for when his time comes.

Duddy could use 3 fights to season himself a bit more for Pavlik.

So eating another 36 rounds worth of punches is going to get him primed up for the four-round (maximum) massacre he's going to suffer regardless of when he faces Pavlik? :huh

I know this isn't aimed at me, but I said earlier IF he learned his lesson in the last fight. Actually, it looked like he learned the lessond during the fight. He decided to stop trying to brawl and started to box. So, lets see what he does in his next fight. Biggest problem I see in 'bringing him along' is the available talent. There may be some under publicized sleepers out there. Have to wait and see.

cant believe i've come into to this thread,i tried to stay away ...

look at pavlik's career at the same point as duddy's they had fought very similar levels of competition,it's simply due to the fact that we have been hearing from duddy from a much earlier stage that is the problem, yes he went life and death with a 'shot' YBC but look what he did after then,he came home and defeated rather definitevely a slightly past it eastman who would still be good competition for most top 10 mws.
duddy was kd'd early in his career but that was due to balance,he has taken heavy hits and stayed on his feet, more than can be said for KP who was kd'd by lesser fighters than eastman.duddy also was able to dispose of a few fighters than KP,but to say it would be a train wreck would be ridiculous, yes we can take the example of the last fight with smichet, but duddy went out there with the impression that was going to KO that guy early, didnt realise how game he was and got hammered in the first 4 rounds, that isn't important however, what is is the fact he was able to switch his game plan and BOX his way to a decision rarely getting hit again until the 10th round.
what i'm saying is he won't treat pavlik with the same disrespect as smichet and he'd fight a fight similar to that he did against eastman, very conservative and throwing very well on the inside.

if gary lockett, wayne elcock etc. deserve a shot at the title then surely duddy does too!

hermit,i think you're right out avatar bet isn't going to happen, pavlik i think will move up to fight calzaghe at the end of the year and it's my suspicion he will stay there.
