DUDDY is the Biggest Great White HYPE ever!!!!

He has boxing skills, a sturdy chin and fights well under control. He has no chance against Pavlik's firepower though, and probably would lose to AA inside too. I believe he could win the WBA title but one thing he is not is hyped, may be overrated but not overhyped.

 

The guy in the movie wasn't actually Irish. They just passed him off as Irish in order to increase his popularity. I wonder if John Duddy is really Irish:think

 

There is an article on ESPN that quotes Joe Calzaghe as saying he doubts those two will ever agree to fight Pavlik. He says that is his experience.

 

Because he (Warren) couldn't come to a deal with SE (and both side refused to give up homecourt adavantage) doesn't mean that Arum can't make a deal with SE, especially when AA says he wants to fight in the US - never heard Ottke saying the same...

 

This thread is wrong on so many fronts

1) No need to bring race into the topic, make your point without that bull****
2) I don't think you'l get a nicer lad in boxing than John Duddy, hes honest, he even said he may not be ready for Pavlik.
3) He deserves a shot more than some of the 'contenders', hes still unbeaten

What my point is, why hate on Duddy? The lad knows hes not the best boxer in the word, i gaurentee that. Hes level headed and doesn't talk himself up nor put opponents down. He brings some excitment to the ring (his heart, chin, wants to please the fans) Who ever said he was world class????
In his first 12-14 fight, YES it looked lke he could be, but since then he has looked 'goo'd at best. Why hate the lad for doing his job as best as he can?

Would you prefer to see him getting beat, just for the sake of it?? I bet when he is beat he will be gracious and wish his opponent the best and probably apologise to the fans that follow him!

Give the lad a break please, if he gets put in with Kelly Pavlik, he will do his best, more than likely not good enough but he trains/fights hard enough and acts mannorly enough forus boxing fans to at least respect him

 

Duddy was never hyped up - people just liked him because of his exciting style.His defense has been terrible from the start.There were a few who thought Duddy could compete with Pavlik but that was mostly wishful thinking.Duddy never sought out Pavlik,it was Arum who approached Duddy's people looking for a big money,low risk defense.

No, in the movie they never really established what his ethnicity really was. The nicknamed him "Irish" Terry Conklin, he responded by saying that he wasn't even Irish. That's beside the point though.

 

Damn Jermz. You had made some strong impressions coming in, with your Killer Boxing video and what not. But you're not gonna find anybody in the ESB community to agree with how you worded that initial post. It can be seen by some as borderline racist, and well ignorant. I know from what I've seen of your post and the boxing history you spit in your vid that's not the case. Just be prepared to stay on the defensive in this thread, cause aint nobody gonna like it.
