There is no way Duddy is ready for Pavlik. He will get taken out in less than 3 rds. This will be murder. I hope this fight is not made and someone, like Roy Jones or fatass Trinidad replaces Duddy. Duddy is not top 5 material. Pavlik was in attendance, so I hope he has some sympathy for Duddy and looks elsewhere.
He certainly seems to enjoy blocking with his face. Dude really needs to learn how to move his head. Fully agree though, Pavlik would hurt him...Permanent !
They're going to need twine to stitch those cuts. If Tito can't/ won't come down to 160, then who should be the replacement?
Man , when you put it like that there isnt a great deal about right now Abraham would be a war right enough
Minus, the true boxing fan, not your casual observers, who has heard of AA? He was supposed to fight on the undercard of Pav v Duddy, to get some exposure. The only way this fight will be a huge draw, is if the fight is in Ohio or close.
I totally agree it would be a good fight but no t a BIG fight ( in the HBO sense ). Pavlik is a little too good for his own good ! Maybe in an ideal world he would come over to europe for a few months fight a couple fights over here , become a true WORLD superstar just like Robinson did ! ( P.s. Im not an idiot I know this wouldn't really happen these days ) I honeslty dont know who Pavliks next fight should be, even Trinidad would get smashed to bits
Pavlik is not opposed to fighting overseas, but not for his first title defense. Winky might not be a bad draw. I think whoever he fights at MW, it's going to favor Pavlik, heavily.
Duddy would be hard pressed to be competitive against "The Contender" alumni. He won't have a long career regardless of who he fights. It is just a matter of time before one of his carefully selected opponents knock him out. With his popularity , his management realizes now is the time to strike for a big payday. In two years, Duddy will be exposed, on his way down, and soon forgotten. So, nows the time for a title shot, regardless of the fact he won't be competitive. He'll put the asses in the seats, and that appears to be the priority.
I didnt mean that to sound as if I was dissing him ( I'm a big fan ! ) I'd love to see hin fight in the flesh is all. You're 100 percent right tho I think at MW Kelly is pretty much untouchable.
I didn't take it as a diss. Here is some news on Pav from the local scene. According to a report on espn.com, Arum met with Duddy’s representatives, Eddie McLoughlin and Jim Borzell, Friday afternoon but the meeting was not fruitful. They were far apart on money. “We had our meeting and it didn’t go anywhere,” Arum told espn (Duddy's camp). They’re nice people but they have crazy notions. Maybe we can still get together. We’ll talk later. It’s not like they’re bad people. We just have a total disagreement. Maybe we’ll bridge the gap. We’ll see.” Arum told espn that as a Plan B he is talking to Main Events promoter Kathy Duva about matching Pavlik with New York-based Dominican Giovanni Lorenzo (26-0, 18 KOs), who has faced even weaker competition than Duddy and remains untested. This might draw in MSG. However again, you have a lesser-named fighter, which could back-fire.
I hear you but Pavlik strikes me a the kind of fighter suited to being busy so if a " marking time " type fight is required then so be it. It is a shame the MW division is so poor right now, Kelly deserves better challenges outside of Himself , Abraham and maybe Sturm the division is pretty weak. I honestly dont think Winky would even be a stretch for him.
I love Winky, but I honestly think he is past his prime and he would resemble a human punching bag for Pavlik. I would love to see him fight AA next, but I don't think that'll happen. I also believe that he will never fight Sturm, because Sturm'd camp won't let that happen without Pavlik having to take out a loan to pay him. Pavlik has stated many times that he wants to stay a MW as long as he is physically able too. He wants to make a legacy there. Although, all the named fighters are at SMW.
I know he doesn't deserve a shot at the mighty "Ghost", but no less than Duddy. But what about that loud mouthed Raul Marquez?? He had been in the media trashing Kelly awhile back and recently calling out Duddy. IMO, he atleast has experience enough to get KO'd without getting SERIOUSLY and permantly injured and it would be wonderful for Kelly to shut his ass up for good. What's your thoughts on that JSimps?
