You know what, I think Pacquiao might just be the best ever LWW champion in terms of ability. A defensive whizz will have issues with a lightning fast tornado spamming the straight left. Especially an alcoholic chain smoking defensive whizz. Loi had amazing reflexes, up there with Pep and Pea, but his output was horrific, his power was none, and his dedication was none existent. Loi could well outbox Pac but imo I expect Pac to take a decision.
My bad. Totally meant Locche. Loi wasn't that good imo, ****, wait, he was fukin brilliant but he wasn't as good a defensive boxer as Locche. He was the beneficiary of a few hometown decisions apparently. I favour Pacman over Loi. Locche is harder to call but I favour Pacman again.
Loi was a tricky swarmer. Strong as hell and very tough to hit clean. Got a couple of close decisions, but also lost one or two that could have gone his way. Beating Ortiz two out of three is an indication that he's pretty quality. Might be a more difficult match-up for Pac based on styles than the defensively brilliant but low work-rate Locce. Tough call.
See in my mind I feel Loi fulfilled his potential and we know what he's capable of. Even if he instils his strength over Pac, with the power of Pacman I think anyone is one punch from losing against him and the more you attack the more open you are. I think you have to off set him with timing and hard punches. Locche has the ability to make anyone miss at any given time and that can be enough to steal a decision.
He looked that way against Hatton, yeah. Then again, there are a number of 140lb guys who were better and more skilled than Hatton, and Loi is one of 'em. I will say that the Pac who fought that night is, at the very, very least, a damned difficult out for anyone else who fought around that weight.
This is why I love coming on this sight! 90% of the time guys are just trash talking and when I feel this site is a waste of time , someone post something like this. I have never heard of this guy. I did a little research and found he had 25 title defenses, 115 wins ,3 loses which he avenged, with 8 draws. 126 fights and never dropped! Why isn't this guy mentioned with the greats.
I gather that much! But when there is a conversation of greats you hear the likes of Armstrong, Robinson, Pep, Ali, Louis, Duran and maybe Greb but, I never heard anyone mention this guys name.
Because most people don't know boxing. I believe that Gazzetta dello Sport named him one of the 10 greatest boxers few years ago.
