Watched a documentary on him today and it featured a fair bit of him in action in the ring.

He looks to be a very good pressure fighter. He is quite short but makes him self lower and works behind a tidy jab to get inside, once inside he has good head movement and picks punches well with left hooks to the head and body and over hand rights. He has very good punch selection and accuracy and his head movement is subtle but effective. I don't think he is a massive puncher but his speed and accuracy make his punches sting. It would probably be best to describe him as an aggressive counter-puncher with a superb jab, he sort of reminds me of a quicker and smaller version of Dwight Muhammed Qawi.

It showed some of his bouts with Carlos Ortiz. Ortiz seemed to get the better early from the outside with hard, jarring power shots that Loi seemed unable to avoid but as the rounds wore on Loi started to out-jab Ortiz and work his way inside. In the third fight a sharp right dropped Ortiz, although he was unhurt. It looked very close in the highlights, although Loi very much impressed me.

In the bouts with Eddie Perkins, Perkins seemed to out-manoeuvre Loi and dig in with hard punches that kept Loi off balance and unable to attack. That is about all I could gather from the film of these bouts as they were only brief highlights.

Overall, I am very impressed with Loi. He seems to be a bit forgotten because of the lack of footage and knowledge on him. But he must be a lock for top 5 Junior Welterweights and he looks a very skilled fighter indeed.

Also his wife was very attractive.

Seemed to have that short, nuggety frame like many other fighters of Italian stock (Locche, Laciar, Canzoneri, Ambers, Burruni etc.) which made it extremely hard for him to be physically maneuvered by his opponents. Not many fighters had the strength to stand in there with Carlos Ortiz but Loi seemed to do just fine from the little snippets I've seen.

He doesn't look anything extraordinary skill wise, but at the same time he doesn't seem to have many holes in this game either. One of the great all-rounders in that regard I'd say.

I am waiting for the Loi-Ortiz fights to surface. I find it hard to believe that they weren't filmed and kept in their entirety. Hopefully much like the Griffith-Rodriguez fights, they slowly start coming to light soon so we can all enjoy them.

I'm trying to track them down by contacting RAI the Italian TV company, hopefully some cash will part them from them.

Good um up off him, a strong all-round sort of guy. I really did like his jab though.
