Khan dominated that fight from the opening bell, winning the first thru his better work, caught Paulie with two big shots in the second round, then struggled with Mallignaggi's movement in the 3rd but still landed the better shots and simple outworked paulie, fourth he statrted getting his Jab working, broke him down with bodyshots in the fifth, and then couldnt miss with the jab/right cross from the 6th onwards. A great performance, and showed he can keep a calm clear head when things arent quite going right for him, unlike earlier in his career, where he'd get frustrated. Loved Paulie's jab too, its like a whip, and marked up Amir's face.
Thanks for the welcome, I aint gonna rip you i just detest the way you pass your opinion as fact, and you always get stuff wrong like scoring yet you argue the toss till you blue in the face. Anyhow Khan pitched a shutout, and boy do i miss the old khan, this new style he has even tho its successful but damn its boring...
Yup, but he still gets caught. Malignaggi hit him quite a bit early on. So if he fights Maidana he might have to weather a few big bombs.
duke comontates like he's afraid to loose his job, jim watt would disqalify all away fighters if they land a punch' mind you if you saw wot it takes to win in scotland when your in the wrong corner, thats just wot he's use to i supose.
Duke is indeed awful. I particularly hate: *insert losing fighter's name* is feelin' sorry for "hisself".
McKenzie is a good commentator, who knows his stuff. He gave excellent analysis of the styles of the fighters and called the fight right. He was right about Nate Campbell - who looks shot. I don't like to see fighters go on past their best, it is a brutal sport. Paulie got schooled. I think I would generously give him the second round, but apart from that Khan had his number all night and it proved to an easy fight for Khan as I expected.
Gasman, Nate Campbell is definitly "over the hill" but shot? Come on, shot is Arturo Gatti against Alfonso Gomez, De La Hoya against Pacquaio or, closer to home, Danny Williams against Carl Baker and Derrick Chisora... He never took a bad beating but came across a talented guy who has finally found the style to compliment his skills and showed everyone why he is still regarded by many as a good prospect. There was never a point, I think, when I felt the fight could have justifiably been stopped because it was a one sided beating and even in the 10th Campbell could have stopped Ortiz. So, old? Yes. Shot? No way...
it seems to me that some posters on here got annoyed with dukes negatvity towards paulie, well to be honest the last few rounds paulie was negative, which is why his corner and doctor were talking about pulling him out. not sure what some people want. do you want duke to lie and say paulie is feeling good in there, and is doing a great job just to make you feel abit better? how sad.
Ok, I will concede he is over the hill rather than shot. Campbell isnt comparable to the version of Danny Williams against Chisora - which was very hard to watch. That said. Campbell is in a very tough division and coupled with his decline as a fighter it puts in a perilous position.
hard though isn't it considering paulie didn't perform that well. khan didn't perform that great either, but he did better than paulie. like i said it seems you wanted duke to lie. why would a commentator make out a boxer is doing good when he's not? now that would be biased.
what a waste of four pages criticising some commentators who handed an extreme one sided ass beating to the right fighter, and commented that his opponent shouldn't be showboating when he's getting his ass whupped... even my sister shouted at Malignaggi for his delusions of grandeur. this thread starter is even pottier than paulie malignaggi
I didnt say I wanted him to lie. Paulie won more than one round for sure. early in the fight Dukey was saying Paulie causing real problems for Khan here, then in the later stages he said ''Paulie hasn't caused any problems''. So which is it Duke?
