Dummies thought a 50 year old man would school Kovalev

    The level of disrespect is astonishing. I cannot believe people thought a 50 year old could school a fighter as quality as Sergey Kovalev.

    What happened was a sheer outclassing of a grandpa. Grandpa Hops was dropped in the first round and then did nothing. Absolutely, completely nothing. He made Erislandry Lara look like Aaron Pryor, Antonio Margarito and Manny Pacquiao combined and juiced up on 1,000 cans of redbull.

    It's rare to have ever seen somebody run away and shell up like that to that level. He had zero offense whatsoever.

    Hopkins has been fading since the turn of the millennium. And people thought he was going to school Kovalev.

    Even Pascal looked 10 times better against Kovalev than Hopkins. At least he landed some crisp, clean hard punches. Hopkins just ran away.

    Hopkins is a legit ATG that aged very well with a very difficult style and a high ring IQ.

    So I can see why people thought he had a chance, and maybe a good one at that. I always thought Kovalev would win, but I thought he would overpower Popkins. Instead he put on a boxing clinic. Even more impressive.

    While true that Kovalev was the superiour fighter that night, I would take another look at that fight, Hopkins made Kovalev miss a lot of shots.
    I think it was the seventh or eight round in which Kovalev landed only one good shot and it was a jab.
    Hopkins is not just any 50 year old man. He would school half the guys at 168.

    50 year old grandpa made the final bell....ward will too only hell raise both arms in triump and kovalev will walk to his corner a defeated man....but kovalev will still hold his respect because he was man enough to take the fight

    Ward will lose the same way Hopkins did if Ward runs all night. Ward will have to fight on the inside, but will get decked in the process. This is not a shot Cavemen brawler like Froch were dealing with here.
