Dunne beat Molitor in the amateurs actually. I reckon Dunne would beat Molitor on points or even ko. Molitor is not a big puncher and I would wonder how much confidence he has since the defeat to Caballero. Dunne is miles ahead of Hunter btw!
Molitor on points or by late stoppage. The awkwardness size and sheer power of Caballero caused some problems. I'm not sure here, Dunne is a lot more orthodox.
Agreed, Dunne has the edge in skills and could also take the fight to Molitor if need be. Molitor is a fantastic boxer but even before the win over Cordoba, many would have picked Dunne to beat the Canadian.
I get what you are saying TFFP but I don't rate Molitors power at all as far as being a big banger goes. That said, I don't think Dunne is about to go on a world tour of sparking people either. I think he will try to box when he can box and go into the trenches only when required. I don't see Molitor landing on Dunne regularly enough to stop him. Its a points decision either way I reckon. And I honestly do think Dunne would outbox him. Also a lot depends on how Molitor responds to his hometown mauling against Caballero. I hope he bounces back to be honest but you never know how fighters might react to bad KO defeats If Dunne can maintain his increase in punch power and punch resistance in future fights then he is a much different prospect than he was previously. His strength and conditioning team have helped him greatly. Plus he finally put his nose to the grindstone and trained with everything he had. I knoew people think its impossible but his punch power has probably at least doubled with Mike McGurn as his strength coach. His punch resistance is very much improved as well. That second KD in the 5th round was a heavy one. Apparently he's after Vasquez, Caballero or Juanma. I think that might be a bit of spin from his management to pump up his profile. I don't have a problem with him going in with them eventually but I'd take a couple of defences first to get some championship experience. Still if it is true (and I think it would be a bad move this early) at least it shows a fighter not afraid to go and put it all on the line.
Molitor is an excellent boxer himself. I think the southpaw element did cause Dunne a few problems too, and Molitor is a little bit different from Cordoba again. I tend to lean towards the southpaw when there are two evenly matched boxers that like to fight in the same manner. People forget Molitor has some very good wins apart from his loss to Caballero. It's not the be all and end all. Beltran Jr, Castillo, Ndlovu and 3K Battery are respectable scalps. He's not become garbage over night.
No definitely not garbage (barring some kind of mental breakdown when he gets back fighting again) because of one loss. I think it would be a close and interesting fight. You are shading towards Molitor I tend to shade it towards Dunne. Doubt we'll see the fight made anytime soon though
I think Dunnes performance could be a one off, I can't see him reproducing that on a regular basis. I'd take Molitor on a close points win. Good fight though. How about Dunne-Darchinyan? :smoke
Dunne isn't likely to box that way on a regular basis anyway. I guess people might be under the impression he will jump in and go to war when the chance arises but its not going to happen regularly I don't think Dunne -v- Vic? Interesting alright. Dunne has height and reach as well as a natural weight advantage. Vic is one mean mother****er and has more championship experience. Great boxer, top 5 P4P in my book. However, he showed he can be got to in his loss to Donaire (not a huge puncher). Honestly I want to see Vic -v- Donaire again Dunne will probably only fight 5 or 6 more times. I think he wants them all to be against the top names in the division for big $$$. He wants to win the all of course but in the case that he loses I think he wants to make sure that he is still in the mix at world level. Thats just my take on it
tough fight for dunne, it would be close but i always thought molitor would have the beating of dunne if they ever met and last weekend doesnt really change this id be glady proved wrong
I'm not sure the southpaw stance troubled Dunne, I think the step up in class, heigh and reach of Cordoba were the reason Dunne got hit a lot more. Dunne did land the left hook a hell of a lot more than he does against Orthodox fighters and with much more precision and effect aswell so he certainly has the counter poison to a southpaw. IMO it's a 50/50 pick em fight, either fighter could win by points or stoppage.
Molitor would batter Dunne and stop him late. But then again I thought Cordoba would, so who knows????
