Duran would have beaten little Floyd to little pulp

sounds like a buncha old guys on this thread talking about how today's fighters couldn't shine the shoes of the old timers.

fact is, floyd would have beat duran with relative ease...i mean, duran lost to esteban dejeseus, a poor man's floyd. duran struggled with lampkin. srl dominated duran when he chose to box instead of slug.

duran also got beat by kirkland laing...and robbie simms. two bums that couldn't carry floyd's jockstrap...but they beat duran

barkley was nothing more than a crude slugger with minimal skills and a big punch. no match for anybody with any kind of skill...fmj would have handled barkley with ease too.

duran did well to move up to mw, but he got ko'd and beat by all those guys....its' one thing to say you fought them, but if tey all beat your a88, what's there to brag about? i mean, marcos geraldo fought tommy and hagler too.

duran is one of the most overrated fighters ...he lost to all of them srl, hearns, hagler, duran. but he gets props! floyd beats a long list of mult-division champs. floyd ranks much higher.

in fact, i would rank sweet pea, and ssm above duran at lw as well...aaron pryor too. even arguello and jcc would have given him a serious test that i'm not sure duran could handle.

Duran is a much much much greater fighter than Floyd so no real point comparing them.

kirkland laing was a serious talent. If Mayweather didn't want to fight Margrito , he would not have fought Laing.
And a jaded , unprepared Duran lost by a fanny hair, some felt he was robbed.

duran couldn't hold a candle to floyd...i rank duran in the top 50 all time...but among lw's he's at the bottom end of the atg's. floyd is far, far greater.

Floyd won't fight the best man in his division.

Duran fought the best in multiple divisions. Mayweather is flushing his legacy down the pipe.

floyd is 47-0 in 5 weight classes. duran lost to EVERY top fighter he faced in his five weight classes.

don't blame floyd because pac and his people don't want the fight.

think about it....at lw, duran lost to dejesus. yeah, he avenged that defeat, but the fact is, dejesus was nowhere near floyd's class, and dejesus dropped duran in the first round both times and both fights were very close and competitive.

srl slugged with duran in the first fight, but in the rematches, he dominated duran wth his boxing.

benitez dominated duran with his boxing

    hearns destroyed duran

hagler was expected to KO duran, but instead he won a wide decision.

laing was considered a tune up and beat duran...laing was a clubfighter with a little lateral movement.

simms was considered a steppingstone fight and he beat duran. simms was a fringe contender with no outstanding qualities.

the guys duran could beat were davey moore a relative amateur with 9 fights and barkley, a crude slugger with no discernible skills...big frickin hooyah.

doesn't take greatness to challenge the best guys in a higher weight class if you're just gonna lose to all of them... anybody can lose a fight.

duran doesn't come close to floyd

Duran doesn't come close to Floyd? You have ZERO knowledge of this game.

that's like bragging about winning against an opponent who has a handicap. leonard deliberately fought duran's fight, thereby handicapping himself. floyd would never do that...srl tried to go toe to toe w duran...and leonard still went the distance in a close fight and didn't even get dropped or hurt by the so-called "manos de peidra" who was supposed to be this devastating puncher.

but look...when leonard chose to box duran it was total domination...and floyd is a better boxer than leonard ever was.

floyd never needed a handicap to beat a top fighter...and floyd beat a whole buttload of HOFers .

dude, face up to reality...duran is very popular now that he's retired...but he's also completely overrated. he gets props for LOSING to the best guys he faced! that's such bullschit.... when you have guys like floyd fight for 17 years in 5 weight classes against the best of ther era WITHOUT LOSING A FIGhT and they have to suffer comparisons to guys like duran.

it's beneath floyd to even compare the likes of duran to him .

comparing floyd to duran would be as if floyd was to LOSE to corrales, cotto, canelo, dlh, and baldomir then get KO'd by ssm.

at least those guys were GOOD to GREAT unlike laing and simms.

Duran is one of the very best of all time, because he dared to take the challenges no one thought he could win, and in some cases, he DID! And in the process cemented his greatness...Mayweather may get there before it is said and done...but might not reach that level...But he didn't accept challenges where he might lose...But with that said, Mayweather is the shrewdest and most calculating fighter perhaps ever, and he possesses an ATG skillset...he plays the game his way. I think Mayweather is the same inside the ring as outside the ring...Intelligent and cunning. As an unbaised observer, I can't find fault in that at all.

duran was born spitting fire and rage? tha's some funny, poetic schit. but it doesn't tell the rest of the story like paul harvey...let's just keep this 110. duran was great, no doubt he was one of the top lw champs of all time...a very popular latin fighter in mostly latin market. but as lw champ he was easily outboxed by dejesus. he struggled with lampkin too...neither lampkin nor dejesus were any great shakes...still they gave duran all he could handle because they had some lateral movement and counterpunching.

people make a big deal about the first duran-srl fight as if that was such a meaningful win...then they turn around and try to diminish fmj-marquez . but the fact is, srl was handicapping himself by foregoing his movement and counter punching and fighting toe to toe with duran. that's the ONLY way duran could have won that fight. the srl who fought duran in montreal was fighting at 50% of his ability. when it was a matter of srl fighting hs normal style, duran was completely lost. jsut like duran was lost against benitez who could also box and laing who could box a little...

fmj would take duran to school. he would completely dominate duran at lw and probably ktfo duran. easy work.
