Duran and Leonard made ridiculous comments. Like the fab 4 again is untouchable.

Duran is the only one I can see Floyd beating.

I do not think you are giving Mayweather enough credit, He is able to make the adjustment when he realizes that the forearm is not having the desired effect (he has used the high guard on occasion when people have had some success against his usual form . . . which is very rare). I do not think Duran will not be able to deal with it as easily as you stated and I think Floyd could mix it up enough to cause Duran a little bit of trouble. Floyd matches up better at 140 where he is a bit more mobile and would not rest on the ropes as much. At that weight floyds legs would be the key if he is able to frustrate Roberto and make him become undisciplined. The question is not who would win, I think anyone with a brain says Duran would be the favourite. All we are saying is that A KO victory is not a lock.

Thanks, although I don't know what I typed at one point. I should have proofread my post. I think I meant to say as many have said.. I usually read it over. I agree, I don't think Floyd would have fought them either because if things got tough , that is what he seems afraid of. He could match up, it is the possibility of a loss which seems to scare him. I honestly think he saw something in Manny which dug deep in his fights and kept coming and he didn't want any part of it in the case it got into the deep waters in a tough fight. Something about Manny Pacman scared him, that is for sure. I am sure guys like Duran or Hearns or Leonard or Benitez got concerned when they fought each other, but they still fought. Floyd should have fought Manny before. He can get a little credit now, but it won't mean as much. I still don't think he fights him.

Good post MAG. The fab 4 I`m sure had their concerns with fighting each other, just a little. They wanted the bragging rights that came with being top dog ...

exactly. Even Mike Tyson said the fear is what made him perform better. Hagler always said the Hearns fight that he was concerned, but it made him fight like a challenger. It brings out the best in the great fighters.

A quick elaboration on your point.

Duran had a tendency to take his time when trying to track down fighters who relied on movement in the ring. It took Duran a few rounds to really get locked in against Lampkin, and Bizzaro lasted into the championship rounds as well. Plus, Mamby and Viruet were able to last the distance, too. Since I believe that Floyd's base level of toughness is just about on par with Viruet and Sweet Saoul, it's not out of the question that he finds a way to survive- even if the fight starts to get out of hand. Say what you will about the guy, but he's found a way to step up every single time he's gotten his bell rung in the past.

I don't think Floyd would fight any of the fab 4, but I do not think comparing Floyd to Lampkin or Bizzaro is really accurate. Floyd is much better than those guys even when he fought at lightweight. It is true what the thread started said the fab 4 did lose to some of the other guys, but they were willing to fight everyone. That is why they are remembered. I don't think Floyd is going to fight Alvarez. Or Pacman, and that really hurts his legacy. And another problem with Floyd is this. He has handpicked so much, that if he loses to Alvarez it does hurt his legacy a lot. Had he fought the best all the time, one loss late in his career wouldn't have mattered as much. Now if he finally steps up and fights a top fighter at the moment and loses, it looks worse, and beating and older Oscar and Shane will not do much for him since Hopkins and Tito and Wright and Vernon all had good wins way before Floyd beat Shane and Oscar.

I honestly don't think Duran was scared of any of them because he was never scared of getting knocked out. Against SRL I think he was more scared of being embarrassed then KO'd.

With Leonard, Duran, Hagler, and Hearns being the Fab 4, who was the fat kid at the window?

    Benitez? McCallum??

I don't agree with that list at all since Duran never beat many ATG fighters. And I put Hearns over Hagler.. My list would be
    Leonard
    Hearns
    Duran
    Hagler

    Mayweather.

I think the majority would rank them as follows:

    Duran
    Leonard

    Hagler
    Hearns

    Mayweather

I rank greatness by who beat a lot of greats, sort of like in basketball greatness is ranked by how many rings a player has. Leonard beat the most greats. Hearns next, then Duran and Hagler pretty even. Benitez beat Duran easily and went 15 with Hearns and doensn't get much credit.
