Duran and Leonard made ridiculous comments. Like the fab 4 again is untouchable.

Ray Leonard basically ****ing cleaned out 147 before he even fought Wilfred Benitez and he gets absolutely no credit for it. Hearns was also wiping out a couple different guys as they began their collision course. Really though, Duran didn't beat any more LW contenders in his six years at the top than SRL wiped out at WW in fewer than two.

Leonard cherry picked an ATG coming off a career greatest performance. Against HIM.

Here's the list of world rated fighters to fall to Leonard:

    Marvin Hagler (62-2) [Lineal/WBC 160 Champ]
    Thomas Hearns (32-0) [WBA147 Titlist]
    Wilfred Benitez (38-0) [Lineal/WBC 147 Champ]
    Roberto Duran (72-1) [Lineal/WBC 147 Champ]

    Ayub Kalule (36-0) [Lineal/WBC 154 Champ]
    Donny Lalonde (31-2)
    Dave Green (33-2)
    Randy Shields(31-4)
    Pete Ranzany (45-3)
    Tony Chiaverini (30-4)
    Floyd Mayweather, Sr (15-1)
    Bruce Finch (28-3)
    Andy Price (28-5)
    Johnny Gant(44-11)
    Armando Muniz (44-13)

Over a span of 22 months, he beat three ATGs and a fourth lineal champion at a higher weight with a combined record of 178-1-1. That isn't even including Hagler.

Oh damn, looks like Three of those ATGs were even P4P #1 at the time, son.

    Should I find a 1979 List for Benitez's? :think

Plenty of revisionist claptrap from Leonard fanboys here I see. Leonard like most Yank hype jobs tried to bull**** and con his way through. In the first fight he tried to outmuscle Duran with his natural size advantage, but got ****ed. He then did his little baby act claiming he needed time to think about his future, keeping in shape waiting until he heard that the notorious party animal Duran was seriously drinking and had ballooned to his usual 200 lbs+, then invoked his rematch clause getting his people to offer Roberto morer money than he could ever get fighting anyone else, and leaving him less than 2 months to get to 147.

All the time Leonard was fighting garbage collectors, tram conductors, bums like Dave Green, and a shot to **** Benitez, Duran was fighting the worlds best Lightweights.

So save the American propaganda bull**** for people stupid enough to believe it.

I see someone above me mentioned Green, whoopee. In his 35 fights prior to Leonard his combined opponents were 780 wins 326 lost, and I didn't even bother counting the draws, and apart from a trip to Denmark, all were fought in the UK.

I do not think it is the first time it has been done on here but its funny how people argue against revisionist claptrap with revisionist claptrap :bart

So you're saying Duran's best win - far and away - was against a mere American hype job? :think

Funny thing is, I posted pretty much all facts. I actually like Duran more than SRL.

Meanwhile, dude is saying '79 Benitez was shot to **** and going nuts over Dave Green when the only thing mentioned about him is that he was a world rated welterweight, which he was. Certainly beats the **** out of the likes of Alvaro Rojas or Lou Bizzarro (two Duran LW title defenses). Hearns/Benitez >>> Buchanan/DeJesus comparing Leonard's best 147 wins to Duran's at 135 as well.

I'm sitting in my doctor's waiting room and that made me laugh out loud.

MAG is primarily a Hearns fan and Hands Of Iron is primarily a Duran fan.
They're just objective and intelligent enough to face facts and call things as they really are, regardless of favouritism.

Yeah, I mean what sense would it make to essentially and severely detract from Duran's greatest achievement by reducing SRL's stature all the way down to being a "hype job"? :nut That's where other Duran fans and I don't see eye-to-eye.

Leonard is one of the 15 Greatest Fighters of All-Time as far as I'm concerned, as well as the #2 Welterweight, both ATG and H2H.

gotta love the SRL hype job comment . . . he beat arguably the GOATs at LW, JMW and MW and dismissed as a hype job.

Some things on ESB are just so unpredictably predictable Jasper.

You have to look at it like this. If Floyd was scared for his health against Pac, is to small for Canelo, and retired when Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, and Mosley were tearing up the WW division do you think he would ever take on any of the Fab 4. Honestly?
