I'm talkin' about the duran and the arguello from the late 70s, when they were respectively lightweight champion and superfeatherweight champion. You're pick?
An absolute nightmare match-up for Alexis, i actually don't see this fight going past 9 rounds & Alexis for me would try/hope & pray he could take Duran out early as he's going to be suffocated under a avalanche of violence. I see Alexis standing right in front of Duran & letting them go, hoping he can catch Duran as he attemps to feint & slip he way under his jab. Alexis has to be one of the best marksman/timers of the one punch that i've seen, but he's going to have to get lucky & early, Duran's slick feints & defence/head movement & most importently of all "His Chin" will spell doom for Alexis as once Duran's on his chest he going to smash him too bits & chop him down. I just can't see Alexis surviving & after 6 rounds it will accelerated one way traffic. As i said, it won't be a pursuit, it'll be a case of trying to catch Duran with the one punch pay off, as once duran is on his chest then he's going to be assaulted from all & every angle, it's going to be a brutal/savage encounter but Alexis's bravery will see him maybe get as far as the 9th but he'll be badly smashed up & defensless by this time, TKO or brutal KO a deff for me here.
mismatch, superfeather is arguello's heaviest being peak (no notable win in lightweight, lost twice to Pryor) whilst Lightweight is Duran's lightest weightclass. It's like the same reason why Barerra and FMJ never fought though they're in the same era.
I'm the biggest Arguello fan you'll meet but Duran is a terrible match-up for him IMO. Duran wide points or late stoppage in a fight that is always competitive, but Duran is always a step ahead.
