Really this is what I was more interested in than the earlier thread I posted.
Duran moves up to welter 75, I think we all agree he would take Napoles' crown. How does he go against the welters of the day. Palomino, Espada, Cuevas, Stracey, Muniz etc and the young up and coming Benitez.

He'd have been pretty succesful. Beating Napoles for the title, and winning against the rest. Palomino would give him a closer fight than he did a few years later.

Funny you mention that because Duran beat Palomino far worse than Benitez did(split decsion in San Juan)in Palomino's previous fight.

with those guys he does ok, except for Cuevas, who I think could have knocked him out in the mid 70's. Problem is that with better guys like Leonard,Hearns,Benitez he lost easily. It was that quality which beat him, which should affect his legacy.

In 75. Cuevas & Palomimo were contenders. Cuevas was 17 & unpolished as a pro. Espada hinself was a young champion. however Duran would have had his hands full with the likes of. Clyde Grau Muniz & Curtis Cokes.
