First 2 Minutes. SRL says he knew Duran put on 30,40,50 lbs and wanted to take advantage of that and Duran says he got up to 230lbs before their rematch. I knew Duran put on excess weight before the fight but i had no idea it was 80 lbs, jesus.

That has to be some serious exaggeration...

I'd believe 30, maybe 40 pounds at the very most. 230 lbs is seventy-something pounds...

Duran would be morbidly obese at that weight, and I doubt he would have let himself get to that point, especially considering he wasn't planning on retiring and his metabolism was still probably screaming...

Hatton would get up to 200lbs between fights on occasion, 60 lbs.

I've never heard 230 pounds; I've heard and read anything between 180-200, but no higher than that.

......................and before long, we'll get the obligatory disciple in here explaining that because Duran gained and lost so much weight so quickly, New Orleans doesnt actually count as a loss.

It doesn't count because Duran was about to **** himself. Hasn't studying the ways of ESB taught you anything over the past 8 years?

Duran needed to ****. You can't fight when your bowels are on the verge of being voided in the middle of the ring. Especially at the risk of a body blow. Leonard's win is invalid.

no way he got up to 230. That is ridiculous. If he was 230 then, then now he would weigh 350 in retirement. Of course people who want to give Duran excuses will probably accept it. I do know Hearns when he was defending his junior middleweight title in 1986 walked around at 180.. But that is not too bad. Yet when he trained he couldn't even stay in the 170s. Just for Andries, Hearns had to eat 4 meals a day to train and keep up at the weight. and he weighed 173 for Andries. Duran at 2320 in 1980 is ridiculous. I would buy 170-180. Fighters can do that.

That is how it always is with Duran. Other guys lose and it goes on their record. Duran loses and he gets excuses.

I think people(including me) try to find reasons for such a baffling peformance when he ran the guy over 5 months prior. I'm certainly not going to blame weight because that's ridiculous but , at times, I wonder what was going on in his head. He routs Buchanan then loses to DeJesus and goes 10 with McClendon:huh. He's an enigma but he's one of my favorites.

During was actually up to 380lbs according to official sources*, and paid the promoters to cheat the scales; he was still around 275lbs in the ring. I mean, just look at this disgusting fat pot belly on the *******:

180lbs not 200lbs, I doubt Duran is much over 230 now, he probably went upto 180 or more which is fat enough for someone Duran's size
