It amuses me how people blame leonard for duran eating himself to fatness.

Leonard seeks a rematch with 5 months notice. He knows duran might not train like a champion and he bets his discipline against roberto's.

If roberto chooses to waste his prime by getting fat, more fool him.

I'd heard he peaked at 468 1/2 but maybe that was an exaggerated figure and yours closer to the moola.

Quite right. Roberto would have found it impossible to get that heavy within five months.

Right. It wasnt much of an issue to lose 20-30 pounds during a full training camp. I would lose 5-7 pounds a day training for fights with the proper diet. The workout is that intense. Granted most of it was water weight, but the weight would start dropping quickly.

Duran let himself go many times, still a great fighter, and what he achieved boggles the mind.

He did gain weight but nowhere like 230 lbs. With Duran's size and frame, he would look like a blimp at 230 lbs lol. It was an exageration.

You right that Duran is to blame for his lack of discipline before the 2nd fight but at the same time you can say the same thing about the "Ray fighting the wrong fight" excuse that Leonard gets for the first fight. Both excuses are used to dimish the other guy's win in each case.

Duran weighed over 9000 pounds before the fight and had explosive diarrhoea during it. Case closed. It's a tainted win folks, get over it.

You can say the same and I do say the same. Excuses are bull****.

Leonard got his **** pushed in first time round. Duran was superior.

In the rematch leonard returned the favour.

As prime ww's they went 1-1.

People don't need to diminish any victories. Duran scored one of the greatest victories in montreal. In new orleans leonard made the p4p king quit on his stool.

We're talking supreme levels of greatness here. We should appreciate, not diminish.
