duran beating barkley would be equal to floyd going up and beating ggg?

Was thinking on this and its similar. Tho duran was older and barkley is stronger than ggg

    yes it would

floyd has to go up to 160 and beat golovkin to even compare which ofcourse its completley impossible

Floyd isn't fighting GGG without some serious weight restrictions. #ain't happening

That said, I honestly think a good PR firm could spin a victory over Cotto ( for the lineal MW title) as being comparable to Duran-Barkley.

To be fair GGG is more of a step up than Barkley. Floyd will never ever be as great as Duran though, ever.

Pretty much this. Barkley is not on the level of GGG.

while GGG is without question the best MW on the planet, the lineal championship belongs to Cotto. I think Floyd could easily beat Cotto at MW in a rematch, so if he has ambitions of ascending up to MW to test his greatness, he can just go the cotto route and add a 5th lineal title to his resume.

not even close, ggg is 100000x the fighter barkley could dream of being.
barkley wouldn't ever belong in the ring with ggg./

A+ ggg B- barkley and bark had no chin and NO stamina

I agree that GGG is the superior technician compared to Barkley but Barkley was a monster middle who ended up fighting lightheavy. Barkley had Ko'd Tommy Hearns before Duran ate up his best shots and put him on his ****. GGG cant hold a candle to that ****.

Duran's win over Barkley is unreal when you consider the fact Duran started boxing as a skinny bantam. Duran was a freak. A fully prepared old Duran gives GGG hell. Duran was super clever/slick with freak stamina and power and thats why he could fight much bigger men past his best and out of shape.

Barkley went on record in saying Duran would beat Floyd Mayweather easily. Hagler said Duran was the best he ever faced so did SRL. I'm sure Tommy Hearns and Benitez will have other opinions on that though.

I think GGG is probably a better fighter than Barkley but the Barkley that stepped into the ring against Duran had just beaten Hearns, which is a better win than anything GGG has.

Barkley must have been quite shocked not to be able to walk through Duran given what he was able to do to Hearns and what Hearns was able to do to Duran. But the shots Duran took that night were unreal. Bernstein keep praising Barkley's body shots and work rate saying that the bodyshots would pay dividends as the fight wore on, which is logical, but it just never happened.

The best attribute Duran had that night was a chin of granite, which is also why he was able to go the distance against Hagler and was able to take Moore's best shots.

In a word, NO. The major difference is that the ONLY reason Duran kept moving up in weight is because he couldn't lay off the food. He HAD to move up in weight to keep making paychecks. Mayweather is 150 lbs. between fights and has been for years.

GGG might be the better overall, but Barkley at his best was a badass. Just like other fighters that had their losses early or late in their careers like Jose Luis Castillo or Rid**** Bowe, when those guys were at their best, tho it was for a short time, they were a force to be reckoned.

Im not saying ggg isnt the better fighter, and btw he aint that much better prime for prime but he was a monster middle who is much bigger than ggg. And duran is smaller than floyd plus duran was older fighting 15rds had double the fights mayweather had. So yes its close.
