I don't think a win over an older Pacman is better than Hearns wins over Cuevas or Benitez for his titles or Duran or Virgil Hill. That does not make any logical sense, unless you don't know much about Cuevas and Benitez or Duran. Even Hearns beating Virgil Hill who was young and at 175 with 10 title defenses and undefeated was comparable to Marquez over Pacman, at that stage.

Geez buddy, those fights took place 2 to 3 weight classes above Duran's prime and you need to watch Duran Leonard 1 again, Durans quickness screwed Leonard up. Floyd never ever faced an all time great in his prime, Manny was close to shot as history shows

Grossly untrue. His biggest fights were Cuevas, SRL, Benitez, Duran, Hagler. He lost 2 out of 6.

    Here comes the spin.

I don't think the Duran or Benitez fights were anywhere close to the Hagler or Leonard fights. Duran by that stage was pretty erratic and losing to guys like Laing. Hearns would have been heavily favored in both fights.

Duran quickness when in range, and listen 154 was a weight Duran fought at as early as 1978 when he was still at lightweight near the end of the reign. And he later went up to 250 or so. but I think he has lost weight in the last few years to get more healthy. He can handle the weights. Most greats moved up and still won. Look at Hearns . And Hearns was not this huge guy, he always looked smaller-much smaller than Virgil Hill in structure. I agree Manny was not who he was prime when Floyd fought him. The style of Floyd tells me he could outbox Duran at lightweight.. You know Duran never knocked out a legendary fighter or great? I want to add something to this.. If you give Duran Nigel Benn to fight at 160, I think he wins. If a guy was in Duran's range, Duran could win. He was that great in that way.

You simply have to be trolling. Hearns heavily favored over Benitez??? No. Benitez had gone from strength to strength since the SRL loss.

Duran? Duran had blitzed Pipino Ceuvas, schooled Davey Moore and then won much priase in taking Hagler the distance in an impressive showing. This is exactly what Duran had been doing. Hearns was 2-1 fave and no-one was picking a result inside the distance except Hearns.

Beating Cuevas and Moore doesn't suggest he was even remotely a threat to Hearns. There is a huge gap between Hearns and someone like Moore. Odds of 10-1 or 15-1 seem more reasonable. You don't have to be a great fighter to beat someone like Moore. Ike Quartey would take someone like Moore and most people don't see him as an ATG.

    Let me get this straight.

You believe Hearns should have been a 10-1 or 15-1 favorite over Duran?

At 154 absolutely, we are not talking a lb for lb matchup in which they are the same size. At 154 Hearns was close to his peak whereas Duran was at a weight where he was far less effective to begin with and also past his prime. There are quite a few guys who would be favored over the 1984 Duran at 154.

Have you seen his dad fight? I have, live (yes I'm telling my age lol )If not take a look on you tube. But remember his dad was in against far better competition. But yes in hindsight it was a bit of an exaggeration lol.
