I'm sorry, but this really is quite an inaccurate interpretation of Duran's perceived weight issues, before the first fight.
Although, you're right about Arcel and Brown not denying the coverage. In fact, a week before the fight, Brown is reported to have said that Duran was a couple of pounds over and that he didn't understand what all the fuss was about.

Did the heart test uncover an issue or was it just a test? To what extent does this test, regardless of the amount of coverage it received, speak to Duran's conditioning for Montreal?

The truth is that it doesn't.

I understand your point here but, as you have been doing in previous posts, trying to put and maintain a case for something being so (i.e. that Duran was in great condition) because of the apparent absence of anything spoken or in print to suggest the contrary, is not particularly firm ground.

Oppositely, even Dundee, after the fight, acknowledged that he'd been aware of Duran's weight issues. Rapid weight loss is just not conducive to being in one's best shape.

Like yourself and a good many others, people were quite probably more focused on the prettier stuff that Leonard was doing. And, again, the absence of comment does not mean something isn't happening. For example, did anyone comment on Leonard's constant holding and pushing down on Duran, when he got inside? It happened, though.

That said, Holmes did point out that Duran was holding back and being patient. But, who needs a commentator to make ones own assessment between the two fights? I could see for myself that Duran was pacing himself from the outset; that there was significantly less action, in comparison to the first fight and that Duran was beginning to plod and shuffle by round-6.

Duran was on the verge of quitting at the end of the 7th, he did the same wave goodbye to Leonard.

The reaction to his action has nothing to do with the reasons for it!

Duran went from lightweight to super middle and you want to call him a coward?

On that night he quit like a coward, they will all quit given the right circumstances.

Not at all, he was visibly frustrated and him quitting the very next round is telling.

Not at all but why beat around the bush? He hardly did himself any favours in that bout let's be honest here.

He didn't look like a fighter suffering or in poor condition to me, not a fighter suffering the affects of a terrible camp.

Leonard fought a better fight in the return and was clowning him, he quit out of frustration which is still a cowardly act no matter what spin is put on it.

Plus the fact that Duran was partying non-stop in the three months after the first Leonard fight and blew up to 200 lbs. Having to lose all that weight in two months wouldn't have exactly helped matters.

There's no spin on what the scorecards represented.

Leonard might have been fighting a different fight, but any unbiased observer could see that Duran was fighting differently too.

Representatives of both camps indicated that they knew Duran had had weight issues leading up to the fight. Again, any unbiased reviewer would take that into consideration, knowing that rapid weight loss is not conducive to optimum performance.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that what Duran did was a good thing but, then again, no one really knows why he did it.

That's well inside tin foil hat territory for mine.
