How true that staement is. And Cooney proved to be everybit the frontrunning coward a lot thought he was.:rasta
Give me a break. Czyz was a heartless joke and Tucker destroyed his own career from within. The whole lot should have been the Cocaine Champions.:rasta
My overall point is / was, Duran was strong and good enough to rock and stagger / drop a few melon-farmers' between 154 and 160 pounds, but he really was not a wicked puncher at them weights.... At those higher weights, Duran's ability to box was really tested..... YET! Since Duran really only owns the frame of a lightweight / welterweight at best, hurting and dropping solid dudes at 154 to 160 is impressive...... Duran is no doubt is the greatest and best puncher with SKILL the lightweights ever saw......... Peace....... MR.BILL
Yeah, but for the umpteenth time, Duran was pounding Moore like a punching bag, and in the end Moore was still on his feet..... Sure he was staggering and wobbly, but not parked like a Cadillac from Duran's power.... MR.BILL:good
Czyz was a GOOD fighter and an "Average" champion..... Between 160 to 190 pounds he proved himself worthy against Mustafa Hamsho, Slobodan Kacar, Robert Daniels and Don LaLonde.......................... Bobby Czyz was NOT a bum.................. However, WTF does that have to with Roberto Duran and Dave Moore?????? MR.BILL:huh:twisted:
I read an interview in KO Mag. around 1984 where Moore stated that Duran was prolly his biggest puncher he ever faced..... :deal MR.BILL
I wouldn't call the late Davey Moore a nobody in 1983..... He had a great amateur career and was a shooting star as a pro in the early 80s...... Plus, he and Duran did pack MSG with 20,000 screaming fanatics in June 1983........ Of course Duran was the main draw, but Moore was there as the WBA champ...... I love that massacre....... MR.BILLbbb
Davey Moore was being touted as the "new" SRL:yep & Duran would be a name scalp for his resume, to bad he got beaten to a pulp by the "high priest of violence" & that **** Leonard up big time as he knew he was next on the menu if he'd showed the balls to come out of that fake retirement shite instead of lurking at a safe distance. But when he did crawl out from under his rock we have a certain journyman called Kevin Howard waiting to expose him as to being finished at the top levellol:
Well lets say you arent lying, if he was the new SRL then he would've made Duran quit like a ***** half way through the fight
I always feel terrible when i rain on your enthusiastic parade. I know how much El Torito means to you.[/quote] Not sure why anyone would be a big fan of El Torito. Too bad he didn't get killed in the ring about 1979. There would be a few lwss victims around.
Duran had solid power at 154, certainly enough to make you think twice about going in. But not that concussive type of power like a Hearns or other big punchers had. He mainly got by on his skill level, not on punching power. Hence he could stop him, but not knock him out clean.
