I said as high as 175lbs. He was IBF Super Middleweight champion and would go on to become WBA Light Heavyweight champion. :huh

Tough to split them for strength, however the fact Duran was able to hang with someone as big as Barkley, who looked more like a 175 lbs than a 160lbs, says a lot.

Power has to go to Mosley, some of Duran's KO's at LW were impressive, but against who? I guess you could say the same for Shane, but I just feel he visibly displayed greater power.

Accuracy? Duran's left to the body was a beauty, also, look at the combo that dropped Barkley, then look how Mosley slings that half right hand/hook.

Hand speed is a non starter for me, Shane was so fast back then, it was hard to work out what combination he just threw.

Footspeed? Duran had pretty quick feet imo, he was not the best at cutting the ring down, but he did have quick feet to close range if you were not moving laterally.

Upper body-movement is a non starter, Duran.

Combination Punching I would say Shane, simply because he put punches together in fast hard flurries at times.

Jabs? Duran outjabbed Barkley at times for what I remember, also, Mosley's jab is pitiful IMO, he pushes it, no snap on it what so ever, also, Duran was capable of using it to draw leads and set up right hands.

Hooks? I would look at Shane's right hook that he threw around the ear, and his KO of Vargas, which was a picture perfect counter hook, also, his hook that did for Mayorga.

    Uppercut, Duran.

Chin? possibly even, its hard to say, Mosley has never been knocked out, then again, Mosley has probably never been in with a puncher like Hearns, I would also say that Shane boiled down to LW, where as Duran actually was a LW (naturally), infact im sure Shane fought heavier than 135 before! he turned pro, therefore, Duran getting knocked out at 154, is somewhat excusable when comparing the two.

Heart? thats a tough one, both had the ability to get frustrated, which for Duran, was evident against Leonard, that said, I think the reason why! he could be frustrated was because! he had so much heart, he had an unquenchable desire to beat the living day lights out of you, where as Mosley, always cultivated his career by fighting the best fighters irrespective of potential style issues, plus, he always fought hard looking to beat the opponent down, or close the show.

    Technique would go to Duran.

None the less it is still not the super impressive win that you make it out to be.

Mosely matches up with Duran in alot of catagories, strength, handspeed, footspeed, etc...But where Duran absolutely excels over Mosely is his ability to place his punches for effect and power. What I mean by this is that Duran was much more accurate with his punches and how he set about dismantling the opponent in front of him. His selection of angles gained from footwork is also superior to Mosely. Duran had physical talent, but was much better at strategically breaking a fighter down.

Great post as usual ripcity. Duran was clearly at his natural weight so he was facing no size disadvantage. Fighters have won at 38 and beyond before so he wasn't past prime at all.
