Duran of Montreal vs Leonard of the rematch

Even though I disagree with you, I think this is a good post. No real arguments from me. At least you don't indulge in all the tired, puerile dog**** that Pachilles and co do.

 

He does receive special treatment. He has hordes, droves, armies of people like yourself on the case who never, ever stop going on about how unfair it all is. No other boxer I can think of receives such incessant, never-ending special treatment.

I think you missed the whole point of my post. I've heard people scoring this fight for Duran....a fight that was infinitely wider than Montreal, incidentally.

 

Duran whooped Hagler.

 

Zarate was a poor mans Arguello.

 

I can definatley see why you'd attribute me to saying puerile dog****, but i'm not that species of hater. But Duran is comfortably inside my top 10, i never knock his fighting ability or his accomplishments, i have a t-shirt with his name on, he has one of my favourite styles to watch.

What i take exception to is the myriad excuses made up by his legions of die hards. Claims like, Montreal Duran would've beaten every single title upto Cruiser open weight on that night(he grant). The numerous die hards who give him the nod in the Hagler fight. The clear loss to Hagler winning a poll asking which was the greater victory, amongst that fight, Mayweather's top wins and Pacquiao's top wins. Him winning all but a few hypotheticals against fully fledged Middleweights. You know exactly the kind of **** im talking about.

I do find it fascinating though, how a fighter of the past has such a die hard fanbase to this day. Theres only really Ali and Tyson who have that. He is no doubt legendary. I would love to tease his balls with the tip of my tongue before devouring them...but i just cant on here, because the diehards are so ****ing cringeworthy

I love this forum and the knowledge many posters' here have, a knowledge which far exceeds mine. But at times knowledge and common sense go totally different paths here. You do your part in pricking inflated balloons of BS quite well I'd say.:good
