But it is failing because you wouldn't see Duran beat Leonard and then assume he would lose to every other big name Leonard beat.

Like Jones has never faced a big punching pressure fighter, can he handle it?

Floyd has never faced a slick defensive boxer, can he handle it?

Lewis never faced a southpaw, can he handle it?

Bowe never faced a world class fighter other than Holyfield, can he handle it?

We have to make our best guess on these things because they were never proven throughout their careers.

If the eye test is your only ranking criteria, it requires an awful lot of guessing. That being said, it's so much more fun than ranking on resume etc.

    It still skews the perception

Well there's Merqui Sosa and Gonzalez. Not elite but of that description. Hopkins was also a 100 punch a round pressure fighter at the time.

Judah, Corley, Shamba Mitchell, JMM, Genaro Hernandez all say hello

    Yes he can

Bowe is kind of limited and his trainer didn't fancy him against Lewis at all

Every predictive method takes an awful lot of analysis

Congrats your team made it to the PL anyway btw

I'm originally from that part of the world and worked for a Leeds supporting boss and had Leeds supporting mates. I remember them in Division 2, going up and winning the first division and going to the CL semis. Ridsdale massacred you. Definitely should be a team in the PL.

Hopefully they kick the Manchester teams a bit

He might be ranked higher because he only had 1 loss in 73 fights. He doesn't get two more titles but he also had losses along the way that are burned into our brains. Erase No Mas, Benitez, Hearns,.
    It's hard to say

Lewis actually did face a southpaw tho it always gets bandied around that he never faced a single one.

Getting blitzed by Foreman and losing 2x to Ali didn't move Joe up. He would of been looked at more like Marciano. Never tasting defeat.

But the losses don't detract from what he had already achieved.

We just learnt that Foreman and Ali could beat him in his prime.

I watched Duran vs DeJesus this weekend, 2 and 3 . My eye test said that's the greatest lightweight of all time. You'd have to handcuff Floyd to get him in the ring with a prime Roberto.
