sweet pea because he is better than duran at leightweight.

both are great fighters and it would be a 55/45 fingh in my eyes but i think sweat pea walk away with the W

I rate Sweet Pea as one of the best of all time, but Duran is my all time #3 and at Lightweight I dont have anyone beating him H2H or P4P.

He not only had hammers in his hands, but his defence was unreal. His footwork was awesome and his ferocity unsurpassed. If Whitaker wasnt already beaten by the time he got in the ring then he would have been worn down by the relentless pressure and accuracy of a prime Duran.

As a side point are we talking 15 or 12 rounds? I'd go for Duran on points over 12 rounds but late KO over 15

      Its ooonnn!!!

I still pick Duran, but like I said, a true 50/50 in my eyes, ****ing hard to pick or call, they both posessed such great skills, but different skills at that. It just depends who can offset the others the better :good

I'd favour Duran at the higher weights, but Whitaker h2h is unbeatable at lightweight

I see Sweet Pea frustrating him, Duran was prone to this against defensively minded fighters. Viruet, for example clowned around and made life difficult, Duran taking a clear but unconvincing decision. That is the blueprint for the sort of problem a prime Whitaker, an incredibly elusive fighter with great movement and many levels above Viruet causes. Anybody that thinks Whitaker can't get Duran's attention is deluded too. I think he takes a competetive decision

It's different at the higher weights, because Whitaker would trade more, he was more flat footed for sure

I think dead close but Sweet Pea avoids and frustrates Duran whilst having his own success UD or possibly SD

I am not sure if Duran has what it takes to solve a guy like Whitaker. Wouldn't this look similar to Whitaker-Chavez, only perhaps much closer? I had that fight a clear win for Whitaker.

Duran would walk him down and knock him out. Period.

Duran is much better than Chavez better handspeed, defense and footwork. The fight would be closer.

Pea was a defensive genuis. I doubt even a master like Duran could knock him out.

    Great fight!

Duran was a legitimate monster at 135lbs as many mentioned earlier he's also thought to be the best all time at that weight class. Swea was as smooth and slick as they come he also had a fine beard and decent pop at this weight class. I see Duran having issues with Pea much like his bouts with Sugar Ray and Wilfredo Benitez but one must remember these men where naturally larger than Swea therefore leaving a window of opportunity for Duran to actually put some serious hurt on Swea if allowed to land of course. This is a true 50/50 and I'm leaning towards Swea because of his defensive capabilities but Durans offensive abilities would surely allow him to put on a better show than Chavez did when put up against Swea. Excellent match up.....true pickem fight.
