An absolute ATG great above his peak weight against a bigger, stronger foe with more power and very fast combination punching.

As long as we're talking about the Duran that beat Cuevas and Moore, then this is a mismatch.

Duran would beat Canelo within an inch of his life.

I don't even think Canelo beats Moore.

Kevin, what is the point of having a mythical match up and focusing on a fighters worst performance? Usually you assume that both fighters are at their very best and under that scenario it's a mismatch.

Oh btw - Canelo is NOT stronger than Duran. We're talking about a guy in Canelo who was getting physically man handled by Floyd.

Duran would bull Canelo back, and beat the Hell outta him.

    Skill mismatch. Class mismatch.

Canelo groupies are delusional, that's why.

Ginger is a pretty good fighter. Hell, I think he's gonna beat Cotto.

But against Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, and Benitez, he'd just be in totally over his head.

I also think he loses to a young Ayala, and Moore.

Shine a light on this - Duran was better than Canelo at every single facet of boxing and Canelo's size edge wouldn't be enough to overcome that.

Canelo is basically tailor made for Duran.

I'm not as big a Duran fan as many in this forum, but ...Duran would totally outclass Canelo.

Please, break down for us how Canelo beats Duran.

Canelo, with his leaky defense, questionable stamina, who's a solid puncher, but not a devasting puncher (unless he's fighting paper chinned Kirkland).

Canelo's roughly around the same height Duran was, with no real edge in reach either.

He's not the more skilled. He's not the more talented. Damn sure doesn't have Duran's ring IQ. The stamina difference is HUGE.

Explain to us how Canelo wins.

Another thing, Canelo's not a good infighter. He's most effective at midrange, but pretty ****py on the inside. Once on the inside with Duran, possibly the best infighter that ever lived, Canelo would be clueless and battered.

Yes exactly. Just look at the old sparring footage of Duran vs Nigel Benn on Youtube. Thats an oldman version of Duran being semi-serious in 1988. Inside footwork, agile headmovement, switching stances, riding punches out and turning Benn whenever he wanted. Benn was befuddled. I know its only sparring but it still clearly shows Duran's superior inside fighting techniques.

I like your conversations but I don't agree on a single thing you post on these forums. SRL is a runner, Trinidad is a tough guy with a punch, Kostya Z had bad balance, now you have starting on Duran. Do you recognise that you champion the marginal opinion in every conversation?

Just a huge difference in overall athleticism and fluidity between.

We're talking about one of the 5 most naturally gifted fighters ever, against a guy who's not even a top 5 talent CURRENTLY.

Canelo's just a very basic, plodding fighter. He has good handspeed, and good power, but very ponderous on his feet and with a limited ability to avoid punches. No plan-B whatsoever either.

Canelo would have be brought back to Mexico in a coffin against the likes of Leonard or Tito.

    And Tszyu bad balance? LMFAAAOOOO!!

    This guy can't be real.
