Anyone else think this would have been a awesome matchup? conventional wisdom would always be to say Duran would win via late round anal **** or UD but how do you think this fight would play out?

Duran by close but comfy decision. A prime DLH had underrated defense, but it wouldn't be enough to stop Duran from scoring cleanly up the middle and around the guard. The thing is, Duran would really have to pay for closing the distance. He had a great way of feinting, countering, and slipping to get inside, but he wouldn't evade every one of DLH's stiff, punishing, and accurate jabs, especially when combined with his underrated footwork. Once inside, he'd have to endure DLH's combinations and body punching as he inflicts his own, and take a few of those left hooks. I could see him getting wobbled maybe once. But Duran endures, and gets the better of him on the inside by out-maneuvering him and getting off cleaner more often. Duran comes on stronger in the late rounds. DLH ends the fight with a red face but on his feet, with Duran winning a majority of rounds on all three cards in an awesome violent display of technical skill, heart, and raw fighting instinct by both men.

DLH is horrible on the inside, IMO. The Duran from the 1st SRL fight wins.

Im surprised that anyone sees a Duran ko. I like Duran by decision but a ko is very unlikely against Oscar who had a solid chin and was always competitive.

Oscar gives any WW in boxing history a run, A Prime Oscar is 50/50 with any of them...
    There I said it.

    Pretty much this.

Just to mention, Duran is prone to left hooks, DLH could earn himself a cute knockdown.

Oscar is ATG. Duran only beat one ATG who fought his fight, and still went the distance. I think Oscar uses his jab and speed and outboxes Duran. UD 12.

Really??? I would tend to agree except there were guys by the name of Robinson, Nopales, and Gavilan out there. Come to think of it even Basilio would have a pretty easy time with ODLH, but everyone else would have a lot of trouble although they might still beat him.

Why are you saying Oscar is an ATG as if Duran isn't? When did Oscar ever beat anyone as good as SRL? When did just decent hand speed and a jab ever hold back a prime Duran? SRL is faster and has a comparable jab, and he was outworked. I'm sure if he realized his fight-plan wasn't working and could simply switch modes, he would have stopped Duran from coming and boxed his way to a victory. Duran made him fight like that. You can't expect Oscar to box circles around someone like Duran easily.

what are you talking about? that "one ATG" was Leonard. no way in hell Duran loses to someone as basic as OLDH

DLH would have been a handful against any ATG welter including Duran and Leonard.
