Duran vs Gene Fullmer for MW Title (in Las Vegas)

Two guys that the word "dirty", could be taken
    as a compliment..

    Who wins?

Fullmer an awkward puncher, awkward jab. Very strong MW.

I see Duran counterpunching his way to a decision.

    Wow. What a fight.

I think Duran would adapt but just a little to late. Fullmer is a solid Middleweight that would be hard to figure out. Assuming this goes 15 rds, I would give Fullmer the edge...but just barely.

Fullmer is unorthodox yes but watch films of him and he pretty much does the same sh#t over. No way a guy like that beats a Duran.

Fullmer was waaay too damned strong for Duran and he would impose his dirtyness and physicality on Roberto. The natural middleweight would win...the much stronger, natural middleweight. Remember, the "experts" back in '57 didn't think Fullmer belonged in the ring with SRR either.

GF would vex Duran like he did another great boxer...Joey Giardello. Fullmer could foul up the works for the slicker, snazzier boxers more times than not.

Duran does very well with the guys like Lamotta and Fullmer. His style. The fast sharp guys like Hearns or Leonard or Robinson or Benitez, seem to be his unraveling. He did well vs the in your face fighters where he could work his inside magic and tricks.

I like Fullmer as being a natural middle who would prove too big and strong for Duran.

based on? Leonard,Hearns and Benitez. Fast guys who beat Duran to the punch and Duran could not deal with the movement or speed, and with Ray, Duran's wide foot stance meant he could not catch Ray. But guys like Barkley and even Davey Moore stood in front of him and Duran could counter.A nice little thumb with Moore helped him also.

You seem to be assuming that Fullmer didn't have movement, but he did. And his speed is hard to judge, but he appears able to get off before most of the guys he fought.

There comes a point where Duran's brilliant skills and greatness gets rubbed out by naturally much bigger men with some quality. This is true even in the case of brawlers who are obviously much better suited to Duran stylistically than slicksters.

Fullmer is a bridge too far. His natural size, strength and aggression will be too much in this one and he would impose himself on Duran, wearing him down on his way to a unaminous decision.

Guys like Sibbo and Roldan, it's a bit of an open debate. Duran may or may not get by them. Fullmer's too much imo however and i reckon LaMotta would be too. These guys are high quality brawlers and maulers.

Gene would be too tough, too strong, too dirty, and too big for Duran.
