I think they're about equal in meanness. I like Duran's defensive skills better, but Williams could dish out punishment and was an effective infighter with superb technical ability. Duran was arguably the best LW of all-time and has a damn good chance. But besides Benny Leonard, if anybody can possibly top Duran here, I think Ike Williams can do so as well. A hard fought points victory for either man.
I have trouble picking a winner here, too- I think Ike is the harder puncher here, but Duran is better defensively. Definitely a war; I decline to pick a winner, as I could see either winning by stoppage or by decision. I'll just say they're two of the best four lightweights ever. The other two are Leonard and Whitaker (obviously).
I see duran winning a decision. ike williams a great body puncher wouldnt have landed as cleanly on durans extremely underrated defense.
