Both men about the same size.

Will the skillz of Duran be enuff to turn back the rage of the bull?

Duran, I think it would kill LaMotta to get down to 154

I'm talking about a prechampionship version that faced off with welterweights vs a post Leonard 2 version of Duran. I think Lamotta will pull it out on a good day

hard to see him losing to the Duran from Benitez fight

the thing with duran is he doesnt really have a weakness, apart from some mental problems, duran could easily out box lamotta imo, who know though.

LaMotta batters him, his nonstop aggression will tire the overweight Duran out.
I like the Raging Bull by points.

LaMotta's not making weight. If he fought Duran, Duran would have to consent to an over-the-weight match where Jake's coming just under MW.

Can Duran beat prime LaMotta? I don't think so. If he caught him on an off-day ...maybe. LaMotta was awfully strong, which Duran could handle, but he was also more skilled than Moore or Barkley despite Barkley's great showing on the night Duran beat him.

Duran would fade late like he did against Sims and Hagler and drop a decision.

Duran had a tendency to take some opponents lightly.

Jake is NO Where near the weight, Jake was a big MW (weight wise) and he fought many fights over the 160 mark, as well as he fought a lot of welters coming up!

Duran meeting Jake at 160 -165, allows Roberto to comfortably come in at in & around 160 with no preasure to make weight and enjoy the extra pounds and perhaps power he 'might' gain from it. while LaMotta works to cut his usual few pounds.

a good fight in the making here, but Lamotta would bulldog and busy his way to victory. there could be some nice Roberto moments. a fight I'd pay to see but at 154 it could never happen for Jake.

Not enough stamina. Duran isn't outboxing any great fighters near middleweight. Over a ten round match he might win against one or two oddballs, but not against an educated pressure fighter like Jake.

This is Duran's style and I think he wins. You put in with Tyson I think he has a chance, but put him in with a guy who moves and uses the ring and boxes who is elite, he has a tough time.

This might be interesting if Vicki says she thinks Roberto is cute...

Duran vs Benny Briscoe would be a more suitable barnburner, imo. I'd still favor Briscoe quite heavily, but it'd be a blast all the way.

If boxrec has any accuracy at all Lamotta supposedly beat Zivic in 43' weighing in at 155....why would 154 be so undoable?

    because 43 wasn't Jake's prime, was it.

when we put these "fantasy" fights together, we have the two fighters at their absolute best, do we not? we don't count their early novice years, nor their tailing off peak latter years either!

Prime for Prime, Jake's a 165 lb fighter and Duran who leveled out as a WW cum MW is not preasured with his own weight in & around 160, is he?

this is the only possible place they could meet while still at their best. Fantasy fight you know!
